Dungeons are casual content more for somewhat quickly grinding for the weekly tomestones, assuming you don’t do hunt trains.
Depending on what content difficulty you’re comfortable with, it can be anything from Zonureskin treasure map dungeons for Gil and glamour, Extreme trials for mounts and weapons, and savage raids for their equipment/weapons

There are several mechanics in this tier that just completely roadblock pug progression even if you already learned it.
Fury 14 in e5, conflag in e6, add phase in e7, light rampant in e8.
You can be in a pug that’s supposed to go way past any of those and still get stuck there.
So it can be rough sometimes.

Definitely look towards the feedback you get from xiva and focus on that first and foremost--numbers can vary based on a lot of factors, but rotational errors are much more clear-cut and easier things to work on

mmm it's not really so bad coming late to ultimates, if you can find other people that want to go back to do them. They're very strongly mechanics and consistency checks, and while the dps checks are still present they're not really to the point of having to min-max gear or anything for them. Plus with all the time we have before new savage/ultimate, there's gonna be a lot of bored people and a lot of time to get things done

Alright I'm planning on joining up with some buddies to dip our toes into savage content. Currently I'm playing BLM with a hodgepodge of Edencall, Crystarium, and a little Neo-Ishguardian stuff atm. Some people have told me to go heavy into crit and direct hit with spell speed to comfort. However one of my BLM buddies who's done savage content has a mere 800 something crit. I'm torn now on what my gameplan is. Do I max spellspeed or is there a cap I need to watch out for?

but as far as spellspeed for BLM. It's a stat that the job scales well with, and also can help the job be a bit more playable. In the end you can get pretty comparable sets at a wide range of spellspeed, but as an initial estimate for where most people like playing at, around 2k+ is a good first step. While you can play fine at lower sps, things are a bit tighter and it often doesn't feel as good to play with
if you want to go with higher sps or lower sps though, more power to you. At BiS we have a high sps set (~3.7k sps) which has minimal crit simply by virtue of there not really being sps + crit pieces at BiS. A comparable set instead invests strongly into crit, ending with a more moderate 2k sps
there's some slight nuances you can take advantage of at especially high sps, but it also comes with drawbacks. But not nearly to the point that it's a "different rotation" or anything
in general as a stat spread we recommend something like was mentioned before, sps to comfort > crit/dh > det. But then you have to worry about how much of each stat you have to see if things might be more or less worthwhile, consider stat tiers, etc. So purely following the priority won't give you an optimized set (like in the case of not having much crit, crit gets much lower priority)

absolutely not. Even at BiS you'll barely see much difference between swapping secondaries around. Short of BiS just get to a comfortable spellspeed, and the exact spread of secondaries you go for after that won't make for much of a difference, as long as you're melding relevant stats and not stuff like piety or skillspeed or tenacity
err, just to make sure, since you asked a few questions and I answered just "absolutely not". I meant, yes it varies, don't worry about the little stuff too much until BiS, it won't really have any sort of effect towards your contribution in clearing content

so, during the section with unjoined aspect (black/white debuffs) and portals. Instead of spreading out a bit and making sure to not overlap the colored AoEs, you can pretty safely stack the same colored ones, it doesn't do all that much damage. So all tanks/healers will stack together throughout that, all dps will stack together throughout that. Generally all up at like, the top left corner (or top right), using that corner square and the one below it

warrior has a 123 combo with two different 3 finishers, one to get/maintain a damage buff, other to generate gauge and spend it on other skills like drk,
pld has a 123 combo with two different 3 finishers, one for a dot, other for 3 charges of a skill (so basically a one button combo), and every 60s they have a magic phase where they spam damage spells, so another sorta 1/2 button combo, it sounds the most complex but it's the most straightforward/rigid rotation
and gnb has a 123 combo they also spam but they get a cartridge with each combo to spend on another combo or one-off hits, plus a lot of other buttons not connected to any combos/resources

But as far as learning what you have to do it isn’t bad

I'm looking to start E8S and I see there's many guides out there. I only run pugs so it can be problematic to be on a different page as someone else learning from a different guide. It wasn't a problem until now, but I feel like E8S is a different monster from the rest. Slight miscoordination seems fatal on a tight dps check. alright, so basically BLM at 80 has a lot of utilities for movement, both planned and otherwise. Triplecast, swiftcast, xenoglossy, procs (natural procs and forced procs via sharpcast), slidecasting, AM/BtL, and just overall prepositioning
since you have plenty of options you can take advantage of, you're better off using triplecast on cd after a fast F3 from UI3--it'll line up with some things you have to move for anyways--and rely on other options for movement unless you really have a situation where you wouldn't be able to have uptime if not for holding triple
this tier the only particular place I'd possibly recommend holding triplecast is E8S, and perhaps tornado in E7S

And occasionally things pop up like, finding a safe spot for thunderstorms in E5S, where initially you might think it requires a lot of movement but in actuality you can just stand there and cast

oh, sure. Well when people are talking about savage they're generally mostly just talking about current tier (which is what the person was referring to when they mentioned savage)
neo ishgardian gear and higher is already quite overkill for those fights, you can do them with quite a bit less than that
so even if you're a bit lower in some slots you should be fine
it's more just a mechanics sort of thing, and while you can kill the fight quicker nowadays with higher ilvl gear, you can't kill it quick enough that you just get to ignore the mechanics that will wipe people

hi just cleared e5s today. How does the loot system work?

You basically get one clear per fight per week. You get a page, and can roll on any chests that appear (number of chests is dictated by number of people who have cleared that week before this clear) and win nothing, everything, or any number of items in between. Any subsequent clears you do for the week, even if a chest shows up you don't get any additional pages and can't see/roll on any more loot, and have to wait until next week after reset to get anything else from the fight.
As a small note as well, if you skip a floor for the week (e.g. enter E6S before you clear E5S for the week) you get flagged as having cleared E5S and can't get any pages/loot if you go back to it after. It gives a warning message when the party leader goes to queue explaining this too, but just mentioning it since some people overlook it

Unfortunately I tank so I'm not particularly familiar with it. I believe Ramuh targets the two closest people first(Should be melee dps), so it is the job of the ranged dps to grab it, hold it, and bring it to the healers. That would complete one cycle of chain lightning.

in practice it's up to the party and someone alway's moving
