the first alliance raid (jeuno the first walk) was a reference to how once you hit level 20 or so you had to make a journey to jeuno, the central hub of the game. to get there on foot was like an hour long but the thing is there was monsters that would 1 or 2 shot you along the way, resetting you back to home town. depending on your luck (eg mob spawns) it could easily take liek 4 hours. it got to a point where player escorts were a p common thing eg pack of 10 level 20's pay some high level ppl say 50k gil each to walk them to jeuno
