99.9% of the time, Antivirus
there is a FAQ on their website with AV exceptions you should add, also reboot after adding exceptions some AV just refuse to use them until you restart, may need to reinstall XIVlauncher as well after thats done
known "shit" AV that causes issues with XIVlauncher for no reason (and many times without telling you)
Avast, BitDefender, McAfee, AVG

free AV is worthless by the way, Windows Defender has had AV capability since Windows 8, is as good and better than most Free AV software

So the issue is related to xivlauncher now but isn’t the antivirus and it has persisted after a reinstall and with no antivirus at all active, so it’s having trouble with something, I just don’t know what

AV may have mangled it in bad ways
to fully reset XL

Uninstall XIVlauncher, then delete everything in %appdata%\XIVlauncher except for the pluginConfigs folder (unless you want to lose ALL your plugin settings).
Also delete everything in the %localappdata%\XIVlauncher folder.
Download the latest version of XIVlauncher and install that.
You will have to reconfigure any custom Dalamud settings, install plugins again, as well as re-add any 3rd party repos. Your plugin settings will remain intact though.

No, neither admin. No modification has been made to how xivlauncher runs, it launches the same client as the vanilla launcher does, which means something is interfering with xivlauncher—or more specifically (and more likely) dalamud

Yeah, it triggers the function but returns a ‘screenshot failed’ error in chat which you usually get for, as others mentioned, antivirus interference and such. Problem is it’s only on the xivlauncher (it’s fine on the official launcher)

Yes, you’ve read that correctly! Please do not run XIVLauncher as admin. (And by extension, please do not run Dalamud manually as admin.)

You should also never let FFXIV run as admin as it can and will result in your game configuration data becoming write-protected by your own user. This can result in you being unable to save character config, hotbars, settings, and take screenshots, with no easy solution beyond trying to fix broken permissions or deleting all config and starting over. (SE does not handle file permissions very well!)

not sure about gyazo not used it myself, but with sharex, you should be able to literally setup a key that takes the screenshot of the current Window at the press of a button, and put it in a folder

then you just have it running on startup, so it sits in the system tray waiting for you to press the button basically, so it can do what you want it to

so you never really touch it again, just use the keybind whenever you want

assuming you want something simple like that

decided to actually setup sharex as my one goto for taking game screenshots 🙂
i now have it setup to screenshot the current active window, when i press printscreen, takes pngs and puts them inside a subfolder named after the window title,
names it with the program process name, date and time

took some messing around, its not exactly user friendly with all its options

That's very much by design. The XIV devs have long taken inspiration from WoW (and other games), especially when it comes to deciding on QoL stuff. Therefore we have things like the modular UI, clear telegraphs for major boss abilities, and clear visuals (with sound effects!) for class-based resources.

When you open up a matching pair of doors you’re sucked into one of the doors and moved to the other. You use that to dodge Diabolos’ long cast ability

You need to make note of which door is which symbol at the start of the fight

Don't open the second door in the pair until around two-thirds through the cast bar. 75% is the target, but if you open it too early you'll be spat back out before the cast finishes and die.

It might be helpful to put waymarks in front of each door to easily label pairs

So, having done both, I can assure you that 180 raids goes a lot faster than you think it does. But also, get as much as you can out of Zadnor while finishing the BSF storyline because you're there anyway so why not.

The trick with the raids is picking ones that are short and also won't drive you absolutely up the wall to do.
