'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.

'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'

Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest 'Absolutely Glamourous', buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or buying them from the marketboard.

You do not "use" glamor prisms as items, you use the dresser and when you put something in it consumes 1 prism from your inventory

Theres no functional reason to hold a lv20 axe when your lv40 class has a lv40 axe. There aren't some rare hidden crit chance variables

The only reason is visual, which the glamor dresser solves

In the same way ffxiv doesn't have "skill builds"

Even in WoW, you don't hold on to like, level 10 gear when you're level 40.

Unless you want it for xmog

And even there, with the addition of their wardrobe system, that stopped being a thing too

You can't be an "ice only" black mage that ignores fire. You can, but you would be horribly sandbagging your party and doing terrible damage.

The DPS role has the most jobs out of all the roles in the game. Just by sheer mathematics you're competing with more people in DPS queues than you would be in tank or healer ones.

Many times when first-timing a dungeon as tank a 5m expected queue actually pops at 7 or 8 mins

yeah, there is a limit to how many can spawn at once

so it there are too many up at once on a map, no more will appear, so you can speed it up by completing some FATEs, so there is room for new ones

collector's edition mounts get mailed to all characters made on your account, may take a little bit for it to be sent to the new character though

can try and speed up the process by hitting the 'request delivery' option at the mail moogle
