Yep, it's a stronger ruin/outburst based on the egi you use

Ruby/Ifrit = longer cast time for high potency
Topaz/Titan = no cast time for medium potency
Emerald/Garuda = fast GCD with no cast time for medium-low potency

They're all worth using.

When can I get my first mount?
The quest that allows you to use mounts, ''My Little Chocobo'', is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest ''The Company You Keep''. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose, and you'll need to buy a Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 required Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes immediately after ''The Company You Keep''.

Are there any differences between mounts?
Some mounts allow multiple people (2/4/8) to ride at once, with all mounts having the same movement speed. A partial exception to this rule is the SDS Fenrir, a mount from the Mog Station. The SDS Fenrir acts as if you have the first mount speed boost obtained from completing specific quests in the story, making it a bit faster than other mounts, but only until completing the relevant story quests for that zone.

Can I make my mount faster?
Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

Yeah, if you're using a bluetooth headset, make sure the output is set to (Game) and not (Chat). We don't know why, but it can cause crashes.

start with grade 1 materia, and fuse until you are able to fuse grade 2

iirc you can just spread out the stats and get most of the points done with grade 1

Why Stone, Sky, Sea is a bad metric to measure DPS

1. SSS does not account for a job’s RDPS contribution via skills like Battle Voice
2. SSS is a 3 minute burst window where you adjust your rotation to fit in that period and does not reflect a realistic raid scenario
3. Different jobs will be in peaks and troughs of their burst windows
4. Different jobs have different SSS dps requirements
5. SSS is not accurately tuned for the jobs they are supposed to represent in most cases
6. 3 minutes is short enough to be able to be affected by lucky DH Crit bursts
7. Certain jobs gain dps by having additional party members like Dancer/Monk
