pentamelding you cannot get an npc to do, has to be either done by yourself or another player. most people are usually willing to do it for free or a small gil amount though you should ask them first. and at this point in time its not worth pentamelding the combat gear

You can also do the Crystarium Deliveries quests if you've not done them already.. Shouldn't be too hard, and it'll give you more than enough scrips to get the level 70 gear.. Downside is that they aren't repeatable, and they're grouped into having 2-3 DoH/L jobs per Facet, so you have to choose between dumping all the exp into just about a third of your jobs or spreading it out and taking longer to get something leveled enough to do the next quest in each Facet..

Everything becomes "braindead" if you have enough practice at it. I find the term a useless descriptor in general because everything requires some knowledge and practice, albeit in varying amounts—and because people who are actually in a vegetative state can't fucking play the game in the first place.
