Why isn't the backup tool restoring the former settings (as it's supposed to be)?
The context is the following:
I've switched a SSD for another for storage purposes, but before that I was told to make a backup so that I could keep the settings. Actually, did both of them, being that one from the client, and another from the character selection screen.
Once I had restored it with the file that the tool had provided, every hotbar, skillset, keybinds... were set to default. Only the system configuration "dared" to remain, to say so.
The thing is, I wasn't logged in when making that backup file, so it's most likely the cause?

Don't be afraid of party members when you tank. Unlike some other MMOs, people in FF14 usually won't yell at you for messing up a bit. Most will try to be helpful and make suggestions first if they have a problem with your tanking.

Additionally, just try to keep your item level nearish your actual level when you're leveling a tank. You don't have to swap out your gear set every 2 levels but shit gets real dicey when you don't bother. That goes for all classes/jobs but for tanks it's really true.

MP is now standardized with everyone having 10k MP, with Piety now increases regen amount per tick
Accuracy is gone and replaced with Direct Hit, which is like a mini crit.
Parry as a materia is gone and replaced with Tenacity, which slightly increases damage dealt and slightly reduces damage taken
Main stat materia and elemental materia are gone.
There's now only one type of glamour prism now instead of 35 types.
Cross-class no longer exists, with Role Actions replacing them for combat classes.
You no longer destroy your gear when converting it into materia.

Another big change with 5.0 is that tank aggro management has been vastly simplified.
The tank stance is now just a large enmity multiplier with only the ranged moves now having a dedicated enmity multiplier on them. So you no longer lose damage by having your stance up.
Provoke now provides a large bulk of enmity along with making you top enmity to give some breathing room.
The mitigation that the tank stance used to give has also been moved to “Tank Mastery” a level 1 trait all tanks have and scales on stats.
All tanks also learn their stance at level 10.

I just got a green 44... and I'm really upset. My average item lvl is 598, I ate high quality food, took pots, did my rotation perfectly and had like 0 clipping. I checked and I had 99.53% uptime too. I was feeling really confident, so I'm confused on how I didnr get higher

The issues with gear supplies come up when trying to level alternate jobs, because then MSQ doesn't feed them to you, but you can level through roulettes that'll sync you down enough that that's not as much of a problem either.
