You have ~20 seconds of frantic and ~40 seconds of mostly GCDs waiting to line it up again. Bard for example is more proc-based and your times of high activity is a little less predictable (though influenced by song) which makes it feel more active to me then jobs with those longer lulls.

I like to think of the jobs more with what the design wants you to be focusing/thinking about rather than apm. Lining up bursts/reacting to procs/lining up buffs and dots/managing mobility.
Reaper is about phases and resources but low on oGCDs (not an expert). Doesn't make it boring, you are just doing different things with your brain during the fight.

It's also worth considering how much your kit will change as you level. Given that we are now five expansions in and that pretty much all class kits have been designed essentially for the 80-90 range, you're not going to feel like the actual class you're playing until late Heavensward/early Stormblood.
With the exception of Warrior, every single class I've leveled has felt absolutely bizarre until around that point.
