Outside of BiS, your meld priority should be piety to comfort (if needed) > sps if you want to hit a certain GCD tier > crit > det/dh > sps. That said, the difference between meld setups is so small overall that you could opt for det over crit, or take more spell speed than usual if that's what you're more comfortable with during prog. The raw effect of the stats is quite insignificant as long as you're melding something that you're going to make use of.

For gatherers you can skip a number of pieces though. Hats early on for example only have perception stats so they're useless on a retainer. Accessories for the most part are in the same boat as they mostly have just +GP on them.

I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this question, but here goes: I really like FF and the combat system, but I hate the fact that it's 90% dialogues and just 10% actual gameplay, maybe even less. I am a wow player and got used to the "a lot of combat, little story" type of system. I hear a lot of people play this game for the story and say that it's the most important thing in the game and that it's worthless to play FF if you skip the story (someone actually told me to uninstall the game if I'm not willing to read the dialogues). The question is: Can I skip the story and play the actual game or do I HAVE TO read it in order to understand the game? Is there any way to read the story AFTER the game or only by leveling up through it?
