The version of the base game you have entered, is it the same version as the expansion you're trying to register? Like, if you have the Windows version registered, you can't register a Steam expansion.

Endgame content here is kind of a broad category. There's Savage raiding, which typically isn't guild-based like in WoW, and is mostly done through party finder. There's also casual endgame content - dungeon, normal raid, Alliance raids, etc. all of which offer gear comparable to or only slightly weaker than what you can get from Savage.

You can buy Mysterious Maps from Auriana with poetics. They give 5 alexandrite each. Or you can buy alexandrite with allied seals from a hunt billmaster.
You can also do fates with the Animus weapon equipped, but I believe that's slower since it's up to RNG
