'Which world should I pick?'

You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences. This also means population on a given server is quite meaningless.

The majority of content is cross-world, with the exception of Free Companies, Linkshells, and restrictions when visiting other worlds.

If you don't mind where you play, choose a world that is Preferred or New for character creation bonuses. Check world status by using !status <world name> or via the Lodestone. For information about the status types, use !faq worldtype in #kupo-bot-spam.

i2501 is unfortunately a broad error that can be hard to diagnose. some suggestions to get around it are: use mobile data, use a different browser, turn off vpn if you're using one

When can I get my first mount?
The quest that allows you to use mounts, ''My Little Chocobo'', is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest ''The Company You Keep''. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose, and you'll need to buy a Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 required Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes immediately after ''The Company You Keep''.

Are there any differences between mounts?
Some mounts allow multiple people (2/4/8) to ride at once, with all mounts having the same movement speed. A partial exception to this rule is the SDS Fenrir, a mount from the Mog Station. The SDS Fenrir acts as if you have the first mount speed boost obtained from completing specific quests in the story, making it a bit faster than other mounts, but only until completing the relevant story quests for that zone.

Can I make my mount faster?
Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

when you do come to buy the game, dont just buy endwalker and assume, because you already play ARR & Heavensward, that you own them
you have to buy them to be able to play future content (endwalker only comes with stormblood, shadowbringers and endwalker)
so when you do buy, its best to buy the complete edition, as it gives you everything
