PLD suffers a bit in damage compared to the others, but all 4 are pretty equal

Tanks: Can be a bit of a polarizing topic, but they can all clear all content. Paladin has dps issues, it lacks a bit behind the others. Dark Knight is not looking so hot in dungeon big pulls and some people are sad about not getting many shiny new tools. Gunbreaker has lots of weaving so moving the boss can be a pain, depending on the situation. Warrior is unga bunga as always
But again, all are good for all content.
Healers: Can't really pick the "best" here either. Sage and Scholar seem to be a popular combo because they can synergize their kits well, but every one of them has nice tools for specific situations.

Yes and no. The rotation may seem long-ish at a glance but is also very intuitive. The spreadsheet memes are about it being rather strict due to spending more time in buff windows than out of them

Those are FATEs
They're not required content. They're basically like little world events that will give you a little xp and gil for completing them. Not worth rushing to them.
Particularly if you've just started, you'll be getting more than enough xp and gil from just doing the MSQ.

No. The level 50 MSQ doesn't give a whole lot of xp. At worst, you'll be about 4-5 levels ahead if you've got a bunch of xp boosts on and do even the Crystal Tower stuff on the same class.

Basically, the post-expansion MSQ was never designed to be leveling content. It was at-cap, so originally gave no experience. They added a little bit of xp to it just to make it feel like progressing, but that's about it.

Once you hit rank 10, the order goes Feed it an onion -> Level it up a rank -> feed it an onion -> level it up a rank, etc. You can't just unlock it all the way to 20 at once.

In command missions, they'll follow you and your commands. I usually go in as healer, and just command them to attack. Historically they've been rather OP for the content, so you can easily w2w.
