Character config -> Display Name Settings -> General tab -> Display Name Size: Standard for the smallest
System config -> High Resolution UI Settings: 100% for the smallest (affects other UI things too though)

I've reported the bug several times, requested a GM several times and even reported in in harassment (since I was told they respond to that quickly)

What I think happened is I disconnected in a loading screen right as I exited the dungeon. I think there is a cutscene that triggers that i didnt get to see. The game thinks I saw it (even though I didnt) and so to count it as complete I probably have to trigger that cutscene.
And before anyone asks. Yes I looked for the cutscene in the journal...It's not there because I havent 'completed' the quest yet.

Yshtola not appearing at the start of the dungeon like she should if you haven't cleared it (cuz u can select her as trust there) means that the game knows you completed it but it never sent you the instanced area thus thinks you haven't completed the dungeon but you have

yes, the materials for the end product are nearly always cheaper than buying the gear directly. that being said, crafters are generally a good way to print a lot of money with selling, and also saving money by crafting what you need yourself

Update on how I got the password thing fixed: if you have 2FA enabled, you need to talk to customer support, because that's also broken and only they can remove it without the password. (Their verification for doing it required, among other things, my home address, so I don't see it as much of a security hole.)
But you can get 2FA off if you have it and reset the password, and that should work.

It is Captain, and mostly through GC seals. There's an NPC you talk to for promotion. Once you unlock the squadron then your promotion is tied to them.

@summer badger not entirely sure what's the problem then, if you had no sub it'd say no sub specifically, if it was wrong license it'd say that too, so it is an issue with your login/pass/otp most likely, I'd try removing OTP and see if it works like that, then you can turn it back on

I've neglected materia in general out of confusion, is it worthwhile to extract materia from all your high level gear? Also when does desynthing become valuable?

whether you desynth or turn in for GC seals depends on values of stuff you can resell/what you need so really up to you, extracting materias should be done on 90 gear at least, pre 90 probably not worth much
as for spiritbinding farm, get all the relevant buffs you can(squadron 2h buff, crowned pie food, might be some other stuff I forgot) and go gather from nodes that are in folklore books, it'll build pretty fast, and then extract

like combat VIIs which should be worth 200g each or whatever

you can generally craft everything with scrip gear, it just requires good food/syrup/specialization(sometimes), and also there's no scrip accs atm so you still need white accs at least
