Grand companies are NPC allegiances that you'll join during the level 20-ish MSQ, they have ranks and gear for purchase and you can do dungeons with an NPC squadron through your GC once you rank up high enough.

Free companies are like player guilds from any other MMO, and what they will or won't do is gonna vary from FC to FC.

i've never heard of it costing gil to unequip them, i use it all the time. I know it takes 1 dispeller prism to remove a glamour from a single item, but i usually bypass that by sticking the (repaired) glamoured gear into the glamour chest and then removing it. Uses regular prisms instead of dispelling prisms, so i don't carry around both.

iirc the FF launcher cross checks w/ mog station and should reflect accordingly. So if you upgraded there, it will be there. your steam key will be the same since you didnt buy that key from the steam store
