Usually you won't have to do much as you pull, if you lose aggro on a mob you can throw a provoke and it will come to you
Paladin has the benefit of later being able to use Circle of Scorn to immediately apply an AoE dot on nearby enemies

anyway the reason why macros are bad, for your knowledge, is that it prevents 'queueing' for your skills
if you press a button it has a timeframe where it registers or 'queues' your input so you don't need to press it at the exact right time
