So (regardless of what you think) I boosted one character around the start of Shadowbringers so I could get right into it and missed most of the story.
I've been re-doing the story on a separate character just for fun and to understand it better, but none of the tooltips for things like mousing over an Aetheryte crystal/quest area on a map, or an ability on my bar show up. How can I re-enable this?

mind is a "main stat", all your gear will have it and higher ilvl will have more mind, it's the biggest contributor to your damage and healing, and you can't meld it
crit/det/pie/directhit are secondary stats that obviously help if you have more, so don't run around with empty materia slots if you're a level 80, but optimizing them isn't too important if you're a casual player

Hey, So me and a friend recently picked this game up like 2 weeks ago and are loving it. Like 60 something hours in. We really enjoyed just playing the game and enjoying the areas. We at the point for just completed the MSQ and LOADS of sidequests so are like lvl 60. We just finished the Hard Garuda, Ifrit dungeons to get our Unique weapons from them. No, in dungeon long cutscenes was a one time thing and not repeated. You get long cutscenes at the end of a patch but you get a warning of that before hand.

but since you have sam and want ninja, you need one striking set and one scouting set towards endgame

I finished with ShB.. which was a great expansion though after that I didn't really found something to do in game that was equally fun as doing msq.. I tried lvling other jobs which.. is an ok experience.. story wise I wouldn't say they're great.. but some say dark knight has a great story.. so maybe I should lvl that.. I started unlocking the blue quests (trials and dungeons that weren't part of the msq) .. up to a certain point but that wasn't fun either. Lvling a dps job seems not that fun either.. doing the same thing again and again (potd and hoh).. idk . I'm just kinda lost..

Leave the expensive ones in. When they become harvestable they can't ever wilt, so you just can just keep replanting and harvesting cheaper seeds and crossbreeding still works
I will say though, there's a better way to organize that plot with room for more cheap seeds and you may wanna change to it, here's a little diagram:
