then a big boost for MGP is the challenge log- depending on where you're at in the story, there should be a quest somewhere in Limsa called 'Rising to the Challenge,' do that one ASAP if you have it
it's great for MGP but then in other areas will net you gil and xp so it's good to grab it as soon as you can

That's fine. But just know what preferred usually means the world has less players, and they're trying to divert incoming new players/alts into that world to fill it up.

that being said, iirc SAM is considered somewhat difficult because it has a pretty strict rotation

check challenge log, verminion challenges are 27k easy, you can just do the tutorial 2 one, even just AFK and let it lose adn it counts, wins not required
do 3 chocobo races is easy, same with gates, then win 100 minigame mgp, play 3 or 5 minigames, triple triad challenges are also fairly easy
i rack up about 70k of MGP on challenges each week
not including mgp you earn from actually doing the stuff to complete challenges

Biggest timesave is to focus on the snake boss and line up buffs. You can DPS it to kill it before the tornado downtime
