Thank you for the information. A friend of mine clarified that the NPCs for exchange other than crafting are unlocked when you get to that part of the relic weapon questline. I was trying to prepare in advance and he was not available to me.

The Anima weapon is sorta weird and complicated the first time, but subsequent anima weapons are much more straightforward

They're really not bad! They're very cheap and afk to level, you can just buy materials from a vendor and do quick synthesis while you make a sandwich or do dishes or something

Not to pressure you! But it's super easy, you only need 50 in a crafting job (in order to get the tickets you need for crystal sand) and you can get that in 2 hours or less
But if you'd rather not, that's cool too

it highly depends on what kind of farming you do.
first is getting one weapon on each step so you can get all items.
then doing cluster farms with 24 people. i usually did 2 hour sessions and got about 100 tortured, harrowing and sorrowful memories each time. you also get quite some bitter memories from that. but you reach the amount you need really quickly with those so no need to worry about them.
for the loathsome memories i just spammed CE'S and castrum. and the timeworn artifacts and raw emotions were all done in DRN speedruns

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 
''My Little Chocobo'', is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 
''The Company You Keep''. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose, and you'll need to buy a Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 required Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes immediately after ''The Company You Keep''.
Are there any differences between mounts?
Some mounts allow multiple people (2/4/8) to ride at once, with all mounts having the same movement speed. A partial exception to this rule is the SDS Fenrir, a mount from the Mog Station. The SDS Fenrir acts as if you have the first mount speed boost obtained from completing specific quests in the story, making it a bit faster than other mounts, but only until completing the relevant story quests for that zone.
Can I make my mount faster?
Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

Then it might be maxed. Rest xp gets maxed with 1 week, and from my experience, it's around 2-3 level worth

when things hit the maximum level for that expansion, it stops giving so much exp because it assumes you're max cap (for that expansion). Next expansion releases - stuff starts pushing you up expwise again. that's why levelling dungeons are better for exp than level caps.
