I would recommend having xp buffs up, just on principle so you don't hit a level wall in the MSQ (there are two in ARR one that goes from 46-48, and the other where there are only a couple of level 49 quests before you have to be 50 to finish 2.0).

It's not something that you have to be super proactive about, especially if you're on a preferred server, but it's useful.
