IMO, you should never need to heal the other parties for a 24-man raid.
they have their own healers that can handle it, though helping with raises if a lot of people die is recommended
as for trials, honestly it feels like a game of healing chicken on who heals first
And sometimes you get a co-healer who is overly eager on healing any damage ASAP
Which basically tells me "I want to solo heal the fight, so just spam your dps buttons"

as its based on information gathered by players using those baits and using the plugins

When I went to upgrade my FC house to a medium the last time new wards got added, I had to log in the instant servers went up and get a queue of less than 200 (went for Shirogane)
and even then there were already people in the new housing wards with all the larges immediately bought/relocated and most of the mediums gone.
This was within the first 5 or 10 minutes of the server being up.
(for reference, Gilgamesh is one of the biggest servers in NA and is generally comparable in size to Balmung)

how extreme are the catch up patches? for example in world of warcraft its kinda too much. that i can just get my gear where i worked couple months for can get really quick in the new catchup system.

24mans gives gear equal to the capped tome gear (1 piece per week) and has a currency (see nier coins, capped at 1 per week on launch) to buy tome armour and accessories upgrade so non raiders can get armour and accessories upgrades
There's also another extreme that gives a weapon that's roughly between the Capped tome and Upgraded tome weapons (see Diamond Ex at 525)
Weapon upgrades for the 24man currency gets added near the end of the odd patch series, a few weeks prior to the new raid tier

cutscenes take a lot of time and effort to make, so with increasing budget it's only natural they'll have more and more cutscenes
