You can game the rng though, if you do all gold saucer and already have some of the gold saucer recruits the ones you don’t have will eventually appear.
So if you have the lalafell snowman and the Au ra pirate girl on the papers and keep doing saucer you’ll get the others.

Oh, that's a good point... but that would mean removing some of my current squadron members... and i like quite a few of them... despite me having to get rid of them at one point or another for not being 'unique'

I did just that, I got 3, first one had the leader get everyone in then decided he has exams and cant commit to the static and disbanded. 3rd one had more subs than actual active players in the static and it got so bad we were raiding 1 day a week. 3rd one had an incompetent leader with completely different goals set for each day making it confusing and unable to get a single clear so I left. that combined with several rejections or ghosting for unknown reasons. SO NO, thank you Im done depending on statics and people. I cleared way faster in PF anyway, too bad I can't count on that either. So Im transferring out of desperation

But basically, the (Hard) trials are in the Trial roulette, so people still queue for them. This is as opposed to Extreme trials, which are only in the Mentor roulette, and people don't want to do those level synced unless they don't know any better.
You can always try making a PF group to do them unsynced if you don't want to wait.

When can I get my first mount?
The quest that allows you to use mounts, 
''My Little Chocobo'', is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 
''The Company You Keep''. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose, and you'll need to buy a Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 required Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes immediately after ''The Company You Keep''.
Are there any differences between mounts?
Some mounts allow multiple people (2/4/8) to ride at once, with all mounts having the same movement speed. A partial exception to this rule is the SDS Fenrir, a mount from the Mog Station. The SDS Fenrir acts as if you have the first mount speed boost obtained from completing specific quests in the story, making it a bit faster than other mounts, but only until completing the relevant story quests for that zone.
Can I make my mount faster?
Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.
