so you just rotate between all the ephemeral nodes during the active window

It's likely outdated tips. The gathering change happened with 5.3, I believe, which means anything older than a year is out of date
Before, there was only one ephemeral node, so you had to tap (interact, not gather) other nodes to respawn the ephemeral node

no, your best DPS skills will be pressing all of your primal spells during your burst window. That being said, the best immediate DPS spell is Mantra Magic I believe? It's entirely dependent on what kinda DPS you're going for, since Final Sting is a thing.

Procs usually trigger a relevant buff, but you're expected to keep an eye on your job gauge and/or floating buff text. You get used to it, especially as encounters are much slower compared to what I've seen of guild wars
