I personally feel if healers just heal, then everything would be grand. I think there is too much stress on healers to dps and that makes stinky healers imo

A good healer will heal as little as possible, in dungeons this goes double for white mages since the stun from holy means enemies can't even deal damage

currently the only way I can think to do it is have a plate of my own and then put on the gear i'm about to give them, apply the plate, and then take it off and give it to them. and I feel like that must be wrong lol.

Depends on your patience for cutscenes. First job would be done through main story quests. Wouldn’t be hard to hammer it out there. Story is great though, harder to follow though if you boost. Maybe watch a YouTube recap if you care about story.

I’d probably dive into a job and msq. But nothing stops you from enjoying whatever you’d like to enjoy. Most people level that stuff together because the mats are needed by the crafters.

so i finally started leveling a second job and i'm trying to customize my hotbars and actions, but i found that when i switch between my two jobs, the fourth/top row of icons doesn't change. so if i switch from DRK --> THM, my Interject, Arm's Reach, and Low Blow are still there on my THM hud, and vice versa (Blizzard I and II stay on my hud when switching back to DRK). any advice on how to manage this aside from manually having to adjust it every time?
