The process has a touch of RNG, I’ve trusted in the guide each time and got what I wanted, but there are those who haven’t. It will say ‘growing new feathers’ multiple times throughout the process, once you’ve finished the guide, if the last one doesn’t change plumage add a couple extra of the last one and you should see it, then cross your fingers and hope it worked

Duty finder has roulettes where it puts you in a random duty under that content setting: levelling roulette will put you in any dungeon up to your level, once a day you get a bonus amount of exp for completing the roulette

As stated above but also check to make sure you are a dragoon and not a lancer by equipping your job crystal. Go to your character menu and see in the bottom right, under your rings, that you have a crystal.

After you choose a grand company, you will unlock the quest to get your 1st mount. If you are not that far in msq, just keep grinding. Once you do choose grand company, they will give you some seals so you buy a chocobo permit from them to get a chocobo.

You also need to be far in the msq, if your are behind, then some class quests won't be available. Most unlockables are restricted with how far a long you are with the msq.
