if you completed the quest, you have it somewhere

you can also turn off the feature that automatically puts gear in armory chest, which is nice when running alts or leveling dungeons with gear youd never use anyway

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Some mounts allow multiple people (2/4/8) to ride at once, with all mounts having the same movement speed. A partial exception to this rule is the SDS Fenrir, a mount from the Mog Station. The SDS Fenrir acts as if you have the first mount speed boost obtained from completing specific quests in the story, making it a bit faster than other mounts until completing the relevant story quests for that zone.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

How do I make my chocobo fight?

You can unlock the ability to have your chocobo also be an overworld party member and fight alongside you when you reach level 30 and have completed the quest My Feisty Little Chocobo . As the tutorial states, you do need to feed your bird gysahl greens in order to summon them. Click here for a list of npcs that sell them.

What trees do spec into for my chocobo?
The typically recommended chocobo skill point allocation is to get 4 ranks into the healing tree for choco cure, followed by maxing out the DPS tree. The tank tree does not allow your chicken to gain enough enmity to surpass your own output, so its shelved for last. You can eventually max out every tree, though to level your chocobo past rank 10 you will need Thavnairian Onions

im at start of shadowbringers. I'm at the first dungeon and I find I can do it solo with npcs. Can they be done this way later too? Since if I do it solo, I can pick all the loot, but I'd want to have the authentic experience with real players. Also since I play dps job, it might be easier/quicker to grind xp with no queue. So I'd get both xp and loot easier.

Simple, they hold stuff for you, they sell stuff for you, and once you give them a job they can collect stuff for you (once ever hour or 18hr).
Their level on whatever job (i.e. Paladin) can never be higher than your level on that job, is all.

You get Marks not only from roulettes, but from just DOING Frontlines, Rival Wings, or the Feast. Every time you win or lose, you get some marks. You could spam all day if you want

All servers are just as active for that now too, but theres less talking in the open world in FFXIV because theres no General Chat, no Trade chat, etc.
People often chat in Free Company or player-made Linkshells, for sure. Theres IS a general chat in the Novice Network if you get added to that.

Recommend getting an invite to the Novice Network, and building your social with like an active** Free Company!

Yes. 7 hour maintenance for the kind of things they're doing (the infrastructure maintenance more than the hotfix implementation) is fairly standard. That's actually on the shorter side.
