Thornmarch Extreme, for example, needs you to carefully balance the HP of all the moogles to effectively complete the encounter

as the King is invulnerable and uses his HP to heal the moogles

and a bunch of other mechanics get thrown into it, and the overall damage is higher

All Extreme fights also have an explicit DPS check. If your group can't complete the fight within a set amount of time, you forcefully get wiped by the boss doing an instantkill aoe

- These are how you reach the endgame and every other bit of content is locked behind it to some extent. MANDATORY
- These unlock a feature, instanced content, job actions, or a thing that is important for you to have. Do the ones related to your job/class and ones that unlock new content
- These usually have very little exp/gil as reward and are usually just part of the world/lore expansion. Mostly optional unless you are interested in doing them for the fluff
- These are quests you can do more than once, how often you can repeat it is up to the individual quest.

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Some mounts allow multiple people (2/4/8) to ride at once, with all mounts having the same movement speed. A partial exception to this rule is the SDS Fenrir, a mount from the Mog Station. The SDS Fenrir acts as if you have the first mount speed boost obtained from completing specific quests in the story, making it a bit faster than other mounts until completing the relevant story quests for that zone.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

anecdotally, i can very easily watch mistakes occur as it happens as well as who's dead without really needing the partylist
theres something bout the healer role, maybe the lack of a dps rotation that just lets one watch what everyone is up to more attentively

If u want, u can also drag the partylist somewhere closer to your peripheral vision
