Glamour FAQ

'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.

'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'

Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest 'Absolutely Glamourous', buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or buying them from the marketboard.

There isn't really leather/plate/cloth like in wow, but you can't wear everything

Dont forget equiptment of the same class as the glam you want must be of equal lvl of that class as well. Can not be higher than the class lvl.

How do damage increase/decrease buffs interact with each other? Are they additive or multiplicative? If specifics are required then maybe Resistance Honors and Spirits/Essences.

Additive, for the most part. There's no multiplicative buffs except for the Road to 70, which is the only buff I'm aware which does so

Like weakness is always -25%/-50% of your main stat

if you're not, complete fates in the zone, there's only so many fates that can be active in a zone

healers have the easiest time with story instances unless there's an explicit DPS check

the speed at which you do combat is not really the deciding factor for msq

running around and watching cutscenes is not affected by your job

How do I unlock melding?

Complete Forging the Spirit (materia extract/npc melding) and Waking the Spirit (player melding) in Central Thanalan.

How can I get my gear melded?

To meld visible Materia slots a NPC melder in any major city will do (marked with a Blue Materia icon on the map). To overmeld gear you'll need to request another player to meld your gear or to do it yourself.

Why can't I meld this Materia to my stuff?

Every Tier of Materia has a minimum item level requirement that gear must meet to allow melding of that Tier. Tier 6 Materia requires an item level of 290 while Tiers 7 and 8 require an item level of 420.

Why is my meld giving +0 stats?

Every item has a maximum amount of stats that can be given through melding and the natural stats found on the gear. This can be seen at the bottom of the Materia Melding menu, as seen in the picture below.

The secondary stat with a higher number is already at the cap and cannot be further melded.
