'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.

'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'

Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest 'Absolutely Glamourous', buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or buying them from the marketboard.

'Why does my EXP bar have some blue or faded yellow in it?'

That's Rested Experience, which is an extra source of bonus experience shared between all of your classes. You gradually earn this while inside a sanctuary (town or area with a major aetheryte), regardless of whether you're online or not. Sanctuaries are also indicated with a crescent moon icon near your experience bar.

'How much of a boost is it?'

The most amount of rested experience you can have at once is one and a half levels of experience. That means that lower level jobs use up the rested experience faster than higher level jobs do.

What is a retainer?

How to unlock a retainer
First, you must complete the quest The Scions of the Seventh Dawn then go to speak to any of the Retainer Vocates located in the market district of any of the major cities.

Once you unlock squadrons, you have to level up your squad to at least 40 and they must complete the flagged priority deployments that come up. That should promote you to First Lieutenant. You must also accompany your squadron through at least five different dungeons and complete them. Which should promote you to Captain.

Is it normal for the UI to lag a bit from the game? What I mean is I have a new, high end PC with a fast connection and low ping to the server. However, sometimes zone loading is slow, button presses don’t always animate in a way that tells me the game is responding, I still get hit with area effects even though I’m out of the bad spot per my screen, etc.

Tbf this usually happens only at zone in or at the beginning of a fight. Things do seem to even out for the most part except for the aoe hits. I consistently get hit with effects even though I’m out of the bad spot before it goes away. It feels like I can’t really trust what I’m seeing and the server is like a solid half to a full second ahead of my UI. As a BLM this takes a lot away from the tactical precision I keep seeing that is required to do the job well.
