Glamour FAQ

'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.

'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'

Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest 'Absolutely Glamourous', buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or buying them from the marketboard.

Best way to farm crystal sand?

if have a crafting/gathering class above 60: grind yellow scrips to buy blue scrip tokens

if not, try buying the ARR extreme primal crafting materials and farming them solo undersized

they're all easy to solo with a level 70 job or higher

and you can desynth the drops into more crafting materials

As alternatives, you can use GC seals on moonstones or spend excess poetics on Superior Enchanted Inks+Thavnairian Mists

Moogle Beast tribe is around level 55 in the story, but it has a pretty long chain of sidequests you need to do to unlock it

nope, but items saved to gearsets get a paper icon on them in the armoury menu

and you can change your item/inventory settings to put new equipment directly into the inventory instead of your armoury

the catch with the versatile lure is that it goes for all the fish in the pond. So if you're wanting a specific one it might be better to use a specific bait/lure

which is very helpful in going for the "Big Fishes"

Define 'underperform' - phys ranged generally provide the largest dps bonus to other jobs, and have the perk of free movement

It's not a factor of under/overperform, it's a factor of purpose in the group

It gets difficult when you have to deal with several at once in content that has a very binary resolution.

Correct. Additionally the bosses aren’t really dynamic. The average savage boss has a sequence it does over the course of 10-14 minutes with little to no variation whatsoever. You either kill it by the end of that sequence or it enrages and kills you.

Each fight is its own dance and once you have that down your dps will naturally increase as you master it.

It’s also at the end of the day still progression raiding. Which means you die, a lot. You die until you master a mechanic then you die until you master the next one. Repeat until all bosses are dead.

Hi guys. I've always been using 3 rows of hotbars for my skills but for now I tried experiment having a 4th one (wherein I put all my buffs). I tried doing this on my paladin. However, when I switched class to white mage, the 4th hotbar (all of which have paladin skills) is still displayed even when using white mage. I don't seem to recall encountering this issue when I was just running 3 hotbars. Any ideas how to fix this?

Glamour Dresser FAQ

"What is the Glamour Dresser?"

The Glamour Dresser allows you to glamour an entire set of equipment at once when in a city or town. You can find the dresser in your inn room at any of the Adventurer's guilds.

"How do I use it?"

In order to use the Glamour Dresser you need to first put the items you want to use for glamour inside of it. This requires a one-time cost of one Glamour Prism per item. You're able to safely take out the items, but you'll need to pay another Glamour Prism to put it back into the Dresser. After you have put in the glamour items you want to use for your set you'll want to click on "Edit Glamour Plates".

When the plate window opens up you can select the stored glamours you have onto the slots of the plate to create the set you desire. Once you're satisfied with your glamour click on "Save". You can now apply your Glamour Plate by accessing the Character menu, clicking the Glamour Plate button, and choosing the Plate that you have made.
