If you don't like static rotations then you should probably steer clear of basically all the melee jobs, they are all pretty static. Red mage has some procs but they don't feel very impactful. Bard and Dancer are proc city.

Heavy Swing > Maim > Storm's Path is your main combo, to deal damage.
Heavy Swing > Maim > Storm's Eye will give you a damage boost for 30 seconds, and it can stack twice to 60 seconds.

This is a hard skill but knowing exactly how long you have and where the GCD is makes a difference. There are probably plenty of other things you can work on that is less dangerous.
