Typically Job Quests are contained within their expansions separately. If you have not reached the next expansion in , you need to continue the main story quests until you reach the next expansion, denoted by giant letters naming said expansion.

glamour prisms are generally a fairly consistent seller, you can buy them easily with gc seals so no need to craft them. if you're lvl 80 combat, the 20 allegory crafting materials are also decent sellers still

Well all crafters are equal to level and same for gatherers (I didnt level FSH so i cant speak to it). So you can pick and choose whichever DoH or DoL you're feeling like that day.

"Ironworks Apron of Crafting" can be crafted by people - Ornate Ironworks cannot (and could not) be crafted. You'll notice it has 5 materia slots instead of 2, that was a big deal at the time. But its essentially "Not obtainable" which is why you wont see that one

Gatherer retainers are good if you're a heavy Crafter, because they passively gather mats so you dont have to as much.
But yeah a combat retainer can be sent on Quick Ventures, bringing back a random item every hour. You can get lucky with that.

I think 1-6 have 100% retrieval rates so unless you accidentally sell/GC the gear, you can easily take the materia back

Note that you have to have levelled crafter jobs to affix material yourself, otherwise I think you might have to ask an npc to do it for you and then you might have to pay Gil each time. That's all!
