1st Lieutenant and Captain require you to raise up squadrons

1st lieutenat requires you to get one member of your squadron to lvl 40 to unlock the flagged mission but will probably be a few levels before you can actually complete it

They're intended to be done in order, though a few of them could be skipped as they don't actually contain any story. Also you're kind of in for a bad time if you just queue up for them. Even though there are more people running them now than a month ago, it's still going to be much faster if you have someone do them unsynced for you

If you play the game at a resolution different from your default Windows resolution, when you quit the game and return to Windows, does Windows return to its original resolution for you? FFXIV is the only game that causes Windows to stay in the game’s resolution for me.

Typically Job Quests are contained within their expansions separately. If you have not reached the next expansion in msq , you need to continue the main story quests until you reach the next expansion, denoted by giant letters naming said expansion.

Role Quests FAQ

What are Role Quests?

Role Quests serve as a replacement for Job-specific quests for Shadowbringers and are split into four categories (Tank, Healer, Physical DPS, and Magical DPS). These are unlocked with the quest 'Warrior of Darkness' at 71 and all start in the Crystarium around x10-11, y15-16.

At least one of these Role Quest series must be entirely completed in order to complete the Shadowbringers story. Completion of these quests, along with having the appropriate Job at 80, is also required to claim job-specific level 80 i430 gear from Grenoldt in The Tempest.

I've never understood why healers and tanks aren't as popular because if you master them and play them right, they can be really enjoyable, knowing that you're helping your team to do their job and perform to the best of their ability etc or helping to set your team up to succeed

The only differences between the three Grand Companies are the looks of the equipment and where they're located. @lapis mountain , I am in a similar boat. I also want to slowly go thru the content as its "meant to be". Though, gear wise, Coil gives you nothing. The Poetic tomestones will "carry you" until like lvl 55 (in the MSQ)

Gathering collectables have an icon next to them at all times when attempting to gather them. A small white box. Clicking on that item will then bring up a separate interface for collectable gathering. Note that the stuff that the House of Splendors wants will always have the “rarefied” prefix in front of it.

Mounts FAQ

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

How to get Dyeable Artifact Gear

A Realm Reborn i50/i55 set: Done in Mor Dhona by talking to Kakalan at x22, y6 after completing the quest 'Simply to Dye For' located at x22, y9. Augmenting a set of gear requires a total of 7 Augmentations matching the name of the set. Augmentations can be crafted or bought on the marketboard.

Heavensward i210 set: Dyeable upon opening up the coffer received from completion of your level 60 job quest. Should you have disposed of any particular pieces, they can also be bought directly with Centurio Seals in Ishgard at the Forgotten Knight by talking to Yolaine in the 'Artifact Gear Exchange' option.

Stormblood i290 set: Done in Eureka Anemos by exchanging Protean and Anemos Crystals with Gerolt to upgrade the set. Eureka is unlocked in Rhalgr's Reach with the quest 'And We Shall Call It Eureka' and is accessed in Kugane by talking to Rodney at x9, y14.

Shadowbringers i430 set: Obtained from Idealized coffers in the trial Memoria Misera (Extreme). They can also be bought with High Legatus Idols obtained from the trial in Mor Dhona by talking to C'intana.
