im hoping this is the right place to put this
im a returning player, i last played around the time stormblood released and completed it. though after i did, i felt completely lost. i had no idea what to do next, as the story had ended and i was left to do my own thing, the issue being i didnt know what there was to do after the expansions besides dungeons/raids, and so i quit the game.
i came back now as i got bored and wanted to give it another try. i know shadowbringers is now out, so naturally that would be my next step, but i fear after doing shadowbringers, ill just be in the exact same position again, unsure as to what i can do outside of dungeons/raids.
is there a known place i can find this sort of information from? or advice in general would be appreciated. ive looked at multiple guides and such, but only learned a few things such as the existence of the golden saucer and palace of the dead.

I would try Protect and Shell skills. They have a pretty long duration. Also, Eat an Essence. One of the items that give +defense and + HP
The essence items last forever. At least, until you leave the instance completely.

You have to go up to the edge, where you're not wholly standing on the pillar and jump diagonally. The boundaries of what counts as surface is odd on those little buggers. You can basically fudge how much you are on it, hell you can basically float on them

biggest issue with this is i expect you're going to be using like 30s waits. this assumes full uptime and that you can be hitting the boss perfectly at that moment with no delays. your macro will 100% explode and fail on you if you want it to automatically refresh your dots for you
i'd recommend just resizing the debuff bar on a target
