Well, Ninja and Monk have some of the Highest APMs in the game, and both are very mobile due to having many positionals so you could give them a try. They unlock at level 1 so of course they will be slow going for a while - Samurai starts at level 50 by comparison so you can get a feel for it right away. At higher levels you get more weaving to do on Samurai, too

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

You also have the option to avoid MSQ roulette entirely. It's not required content. They merely give really good incentives so that higher level players are willing to go back and do it again for the rewards on alt jobs.
