also the reason i find SAM to be more straightforward is that
the various different melee combos for NIN, MNK, and DRG have buffs, so you have to do the combos in a particular order for an optimal rotation.
DRG also has additional buffs outside of those combos which you need to apply at specific times
NIN has a complex rotation involving using a particular ninjutsus first for a buff before your melee combo
and MNK has a ton of positionals which can get overwhelming

Ehhhhhhh those old suggestions aren't really applicable anymore. Server pop has generally equalized for the most part. These days Preferred servers tend to have higher populations if there's any difference at all.

Gilgamesh was never really legitimately a "raid" server. But Server populations nowadays are generally equalised, and individual server choice doesn't matter.

You can freely visit other worlds on your datacentre with only few limitations in order to hang out with people and do open-world content. The Party Finder and the Duty Finder are both cross-server within your datacentre.

@leaden ginkgofrom my messing around, the lowest you need is level 42 with your current set up, along with doing a Yellow > Red/Yellow > Red > Blue > Blue/Yellow > Red/Blue/Yellow training at some point during the leveling process
