From level 50 onwards, rather than being "Disciple of War" or "Disciple of Magic" generally, gear will start to be for specific classes grouped by type. So healers all share a gear set, caster dps have another, physical ranged a third, and so on.

You can set the ironworks vendor to only show you stuff for your job. Buy the whole set, starting with the weapon and gear. You dont need the accessories, but its a long way until HW and you will get capped if you dont spend it, so just buy whenever you need

Post expansion content after the fact can feel a little weird because aside from the MSQ or things that are sequentially unlocked you don't get a sense of how things progressed.

When the patches are introduced normally, we usually get a handful of MSQ, plus either an Alliance raid or (from Heavensward onwards) a Normal raid, and sometimes also a Trial.

Alliance raids, Normal raids, and endgame trials are unrelated to the MSQ, but exist as side content in their own right.

As of Shadowbringers they stopped adding new, non-MSQ dungeons every patch, but that used to be a thing as well.

My personal method is that I'll pick up every quest, but I won't actually do the instances straight out unless they're required (Hard mode primals/Crystal Tower). Instead, I'll do them through duty roulette as I get them, once per day until they're done.

At max level it's pretty much the same for every class: Crit > DH > Det, with SkS/SpS to tier or comfort.

The Balance discord usually has class-by-class breakdowns.

However if you're just talking about for leveling... nobody melds below max level. There's no point.

Why am I Past lv50 Without the Abilities of My Job

Typically Job Quests are contained within their expansions separately. If you have not reached the next expansion in , you need to continue the main story quests until you reach the next expansion, denoted by giant letters naming said expansion.
