you either need a crafter of the appropriate level to self meld or find a materia meld to meld it. but its not worth melding your gear while leveling since you replace it so often

@carmine shell get to floor 50 in palace of the dead and then you have to sacrifice strength in your aetherpool weapon and armor for each grip, 10 strength each. You need 3 grips for the first wep, then 6 for the upgraded version
