How do I unlock melding?

Complete Forging the Spirit (materia extract/npc melding) and Waking the Spirit (player melding) in Central Thanalan.

How can I get my gear melded?

To meld visible Materia slots a NPC melder in any major city will do (marked with a Blue Materia icon on the map). To overmeld gear you'll need to request another player to meld your gear or to do it yourself.

Why can't I meld this Materia to my stuff?

Every Tier of Materia has a minimum item level requirement that gear must meet to allow melding of that Tier. Tier 6 Materia requires an item level of 290 while Tiers 7 and 8 require an item level of 420.

Why is my meld giving +0 stats?

Every item has a maximum amount of stats that can be given through melding and the natural stats found on the gear. This can be seen at the bottom of the Materia Melding menu, as seen in the picture below.

The secondary stat with a higher number is already at the cap and cannot be further melded.

and in crafting a difference of 1 stat can be a matter of succeeding or failing a craft, unlike in combat where +1 of a secondary stat will likely not change anything at all

1. What are primal fights called? Just primal fights?
2. When I get to end game, does progression of primal fights start with Ifrit or does it change per expansion and therefore is just a recent or current expansion primal fight?

Loot Rules: Following each weekly reset, every player has a chance to obtain loot from the Savage encounters of the current raid tier. Upon clearing each floor, you will obtain 1 book specific to that fight (e.g. Book of Anamorphosis) and a chance to roll on the loot from that floor. Regardless of if you obtained loot from your weekly clear, you will be barred from rolling on loot from the same encounter until the next weekly reset.

Entering an encounter before clearing the previous floor(s) will relinquish all rewards from previously uncleared floors. (e.g. Entering E12S before clearing E9S for the week will relinquish loot from E9S, E10S, and E11S.) You will lose a chance to earn a book and your chance to roll on any loot that drops that week.

The number of players in your party that have cleared/skipped the encounter for the week will also affect the loot you will get after clearing the encounter.

All in the context of farming/making gil, I should add. - I am aware of basics I believe, I think where my knowledge falls short is what to do with it.
Like what do I do once an item is Spiritbonded at a 100%?
I've just been desynthing a lot of stuff, is there anything I can do with that once I hit the 520 limit on the level bar?
I've heard people do "spiritbonding runs" or something, and I'm not sure what that means. Some people use Trusts for that, some people farm in groups.

How do I unlock melding?

Complete Forging the Spirit (materia extract/npc melding) and Waking the Spirit (player melding) in Central Thanalan.

How can I get my gear melded?

To meld visible Materia slots a NPC melder in any major city will do (marked with a Blue Materia icon on the map). To overmeld gear you'll need to request another player to meld your gear or to do it yourself.

Why can't I meld this Materia to my stuff?

Every Tier of Materia has a minimum item level requirement that gear must meet to allow melding of that Tier. Tier 6 Materia requires an item level of 290 while Tiers 7 and 8 require an item level of 420.

Why is my meld giving +0 stats?

Every item has a maximum amount of stats that can be given through melding and the natural stats found on the gear. This can be seen at the bottom of the Materia Melding menu, as seen in the picture below.

The secondary stat with a higher number is already at the cap and cannot be further melded.

Ever since the latest patch dropped I have been experiencing extreme lag spikes, (players teleporting constantly, quick gathering taking up to five seconds to go through, even dialogue being delayed) I have gone over everything on my end so many times and I have no idea what could be causing it. I've tried pinging my DC through the command prompt and the response time is normal. Even the menu screen says my server connection is "Excellent". My device is completely up-to-date. I am not having this issue in any other online game.

My sub is running out soon and I don't really want to spend more money on a game I can't really play, is there anything else I can do to try and fix this? Or is there a way to send a report to SE?

so i'm finally getting around to leveling up my crafting. since the ishgard restoration is a pathway to abilities some would consider to be unnatural, should i rush 80, and then go back and do all the various unlockables like master books and writs and beast tribes, or should i stop at every 10 level interval after 50 and run around and unlock the stuff as i go?
