it's relatively okay to learn, arguably pretty simple at 80

issue is optimizing how much time you're spent actually doing damage in a fight via dodging / doing mechanics

which is harder since it will always change from a fight by fight basis

BLM doesn't have much harder of a time optimising on a per-fight basis than any other job.

All jobs must figure out their uptime and when to hold cooldowns, etc.

BLM isn't fundamentally different.

Something unique to ff14 is that healer has a lot more responsibility than tank. You need to know the mechanics (just like tank) and keep yourself and tank alive and do DPS.

general recommendations for retainers is 1 combat and 1 gatherer, and then send them out either on quick ventures if there's nothing in particular you need/want from the targeted ventures or 18hr ventures if you want to be lazy and earn a bit of extra coin. retainers can only level as high as you are in the class you give them

Or at least, in the sense of glamour, such as, paladins would find more platey, heavy stuff and black mages would find more robes and the like. Is this correct? And if so, does it matter in terms of gil making? Is there a certain type of glamour that I could hunt for and thus focus my combat retainer(s) on that over others?

the only thing that differs is going to be the 1hr target ventures, but that only differs between the combat and gathering jobs

combats all will bring back the same thing

gathering retainers will be able to gather the same things as a player botanist/miner/fisher would

important thing with retainers ultimately is the fact they are limited in level by your level in that class/job

currently due to me just being....impatient as hell xD I end up buying the mats I need to make the items my leves want to lvl, then depending on what the job quest for that craft wants I just straight up buy the quest item because making something repeatedly to get the HQ version (especially if multiple different items are required) is just blargh x.x

this has macros for the crafts, just meet the stats needed and use the food used if it lists any

i usually use basic touch then standard until durability is almost done then i replenish durability and try again till I barely have enough dura to finish actually making it

I never knew how wrong ffxiv macro can be
But i accidently witness it in crafting
Tldr i press the macroed action, didnt respond, press multiple time
The action was unavalaible cause i accidently do something else
Then basically my char stuck with the action is unvaialble for a while....guess that is why never macro anything that isnt out global cool down and even then people only use auto place one (for ground target/tether stuff)

So yeah....just see leveling rotation guide, macro is rarely used except to allow easy weave (in combat context) and global cool down skill macroed = asking to be wiped ,-,
