All worlds are connected to live servers--if a server ever gets 'dead' they switch on a bonus xp buff and suddenly it stops being dead. As a result, no server or data center is ever truly dead.

A lot of the really cool stuff comes from EX trials or events over the years. Really depends on what you want. Relics are cool but a majority require a good amount of grinding. Soloing early EX trials is a good way to get some cool glams under your belt

You can get the EX trials for Ifrit, Titan and Garuda from the Waking Sands in Vesper Bay by doing the Hard trials
That whole trial questline starts with 'A Recurring Problem' from Minfilia
The Hard trials come from the various Scions and the EX trials come from Urianger

It's literally fine whenever you want to. Cosmetic stuff is an ongoing thing that you can do early or late. It just happens to be easier to farm glamour, minions, mounts, etc. when you're higher level because you can solo most content for things.

tl;dr from akhmorning: You have a linear function that determines what Weapon/Magic damage applies (based on job and level), another linear function that determines Attack Power's contribution. This gets multipled together with determination's linear calculation, then if you crit, multipled by your crit rating's modifier, then if you direct hit, multiplies that, then finally multiplies sequentially your buffs and debuffs.
Basically, because WD/MD is relatively a small number, a 'small' change in it is multiplicatively more powerful.

Personally as someone who crafts I find combat retainer more useful because it's a lot more effort to farm kills than simply gather

sam has to make some minor adjustments if they lose uptime, where afaik drg basically continues what they were doing

I wouldn't say DPS is inherently easier than tanks, they just have to manage other stuff. potentially harder because of increased APS but e.g. a tank has to make sure enmity is where it should be, everyone can consistently hit their positionals, etc

generally the best idea to stay around quest level and not go too far over if possible
