Once you meet those, head to Ul'dah. In the Steps of Nald, near the main Aetheryte, you will have a new quest. Speak with the Ul'dahn Citizen and he will tell you to go somewhere else.
Head to the Gladiator's Guild in Ul'dah. Once there, go into the back room to find an old man on the floor. Speak with him and after a lengthy conversation he will make you a samurai!

For things like raiding, FCs don't generally get involved anyways so you'll be fine down the road.
With Cross-world Linkshells, you can have the benefits of guilds in other games without any 'membership commitment'

I mean you can play with them but if you wanted to be in the same fc as your friends you'd need to transfer otherwise its not really a big deal. Well, unless its an issue for you
