Side quests generally give pretty mediocre exp so not really. If it's a blue quest though, that means it'll unlock something so I'd recommend doing those (unless it's something you don't want at the moment, say it's called "So you want to be a rogue" but you don't)

Some side quests will give minions and emotes but those are pretty rare

Like there's a side quest for a different dance somewhere in every starting city iirc

Leveling your first job together is a bit difficult due to instancing for the MSQ. There's a lot of solo duty stuff, but you can do the required dungeons and trials together. Alt jobs are easier because you can just level together by doing group content.

Which world should I pick?

You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences. This also means population on a given server is quite meaningless.

Hi, i already have some answers but i gave a try to Wow classic for TBC, but even if it's really cool, it's way too much time consuming (rep grind, can't do a new toon easily, farm everywhere).
So i hesitate to give a second try to FF14 : i want a solo experience with the possibility to do endgame content casually (without a guild, as a pu for example) but still want some challenges
Is it possible ?
And when you chose a server, is the designed servers really worth it ? Even if all servers are linked, the designed server are a melting pot, with many players who will stop quickly. Isn't it better to go on a "big" server where your language is predominant ?

I'd definitely recommend doing the armory chest instead of calamity salvager. It costs nothing and you can put the armor on a glamour plate from there so you wouldn't have to spend glamour prisms

Yes, but only certain armor. It also only costs prisms to actually put glamour in the glamour dressor. Actually applying glamour plates costs nothing.
