You can select an easier difficulty if you fail the first time.
Always focus on the adds when they appear, they will one shot you if they trigger.

@leaden ginkgo, retire your chocobo's as soon they get to Rank 40, higher ranks doesn't matter for breeding, only the base stats (the stars) does transfer.
Be aware that the stats of the Grandparents are considered when you breed race chocobo's.
So you have 25% chance of every star stat to transfer to the hatchling.
The parents both transfer their stats to the hatchling, so remember that when you breed further. Eventually you need to downbreed if you want 20 stars.
