It includes everything in ARR (Base game) and HW (First Expansion). There are enough content to fill at least 100 hours of time.
You are only limited by social functions. So if you need to add friends or something, you need to buy the Starter Edition of the game (which includes the exact same amount of content, while also requiring you to pay a monthly subscription to play).
So I would say, only buy the game after you completed HW, or if you decided you want to start using the social functions.

Also the game have 2 parts. The Starter Edition (2.0 + 3.0 stuff) and the Expansion (4.0 and 5.0 stuff).
6.0 will probably release around 6 month later. If you wait until then, when buying Expansion, you get 4.0 + 5.0 + 6.0 for the same price as now.
Maybe 4.0 will also be added to Starter Edition and Free Trail? I'm not sure though.
But yeah, I personally recommend not buying Expansion until 6 month later. There are quite a lot of stuff to do with just 2.0 and 3.0.

@devout crystal If you're playing the game by trying to race through it, you're not gonna have a good time. Take your time, soak it in and just level up another class you find interesting. If you want to have a breeze then you can either go tank or healer and get those dungeon queues easy

Playing a DRK main (only job actually) and thought I was doing fine, but have started savage content (just cleared e9s and now doing e10s) and using ACT, and I see relative to the other tank my DPS is actually pretty poor. Using the rotations from The Balance and believe my main issue is simply messing them up, clipping, panic pushing and breaking a rotation, etc. I realize that in savage learning parties, everyone is struggling with the mechanics, but seems like usually it's me that struggles most in terms of actual output. Anybody have tips on how they've managed to avoid doing the above? Currently using 1-6 on three hot bars (w/ Ctrl and Alt bound to mouse keys 1 &2) for my main abilities, but not sure it's really working for me due to misclicks.

The restrictions are mainly social in nature, such as not being able to form parties, join guilds (called free companies here) or use the market board.

The "no parties for you" restriction does not affect running instanced content however. You can still queue for that and the game just puts you in a party

As someone doing trial account there are 3 drawbacks you need to be aware at least

1. You cant have more than 300k gil
2. You cant use player marketboard
3. Has no retainer for extra storage so prepare for massive management of inventory (you have chocobo bag for storing item)
   Other than that tbh as a player the content is plentiful. It is very good experience so far and good idea to hook people in before buying the game + sub
   You will have lots of content by base game alone tbh ,-, let alone the 1st expansion

i'd suggest using big dmg reduction CDs on adds

since they are the ones that deal the most damage

stacking 2 CDs on adds is fine, because they do hit harder than bosses

but it has to be like...1 strong and 1 weak, not 2 strong ones

for example, stack Rampart and Reprise is fine and acceptable in adds during dungeons
