In case you were familiar with games where character has stat growth, for example, a Mage character will gain Mage related stat faster.
This is not how stat works in XIV. All your stat comes from your equipment. So you can be a Mage, tank, or a melee dps on one character.

Do keep in mind though that GLD and CNJ start in different cities (Ul'dah and Gridania, respectively) so you won't be able to pick up the other class until you get to the MSQ 'Gridanian/Ul'dahn Envoy'

Well let's say you have the best armour in the game. But it looks like shit. You hate that. But you really loved that armour you had on when you were lvl 43. Bing bang boom, you can make your fancy endgame armour look like that lvl 43 armour
