Mounts FAQ

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

Okay so I am looking at my character’s page in the Lodestone. If I use the character search function, typing my full name does not show any results. Typing my first name and scrolling until I find my name does work. What is going on?

The only important bit is the arrow on your targeting circle

As long as that arrow is facing away (the part facing the enemy is the blank back space specifically) it won't hit you

If you're not sure if you're looking away, the way I do it is to hold right click and wiggle the mouse while I continue to do my weaponskills

This only works on standard movement, not legacy however

ARR look mechanic snapshots are sometimes tied to the animation

But everywhere else it's tied to the cast

4. Different jobs have different SSS dps requirements
5. SSS is not accurately tuned for the jobs they are supposed to represent in most cases
6. 3 minutes is short enough to be able to be affected by lucky DH Crit bursts
7. Certain jobs gain dps by having additional party members like Dancer/Monk
