WAR you can legit just Be Mortal Combat and pull people to you and as long as your following the group they will beat them to a pulp i really enjoy that in pvp and your damage as a WAR in pvp is not bad over all but generally play what you like. if your just spamming it for glam you might not have fun. and depending on what your DC is there should be a PvP Discord that you can link up with to find out when everyone is playing

I'm not really sure what difference waiting for endwalker would make in this case unless you also want to skip shb which I don't recommend because you'll lose quite a bit of context for endwalker. Skipping the story you've already been through is fine as long as you feel its worth the money, and there are plenty of story refreshers out there if you feel like you don't remember something. Just be mindful of properly learning/relearning whatever job you level skip and you should be fine.
