I don't think it's quite possible to have a ranged tank with how things are. You have to be able to be in range to actually take the damage, and have to be able to keep bosses/enemies in position, which close range targets (like most enemies) will just run up to stand directly in front of you anyways

Hey, I played the trial for a super short time a few months ago and am looking to make a new account and properly get into the game. I'm not too bothered about the base game story but back when I played I skipped all the text for quests / conversations and most cutscenes. It's totally different story depending on what starting city you chose
So even if you remembered it all, there are two other stories for the first 15 levels that you don't even know, and that won't affect story enjoyment or anything

There's no need for it. Inside, the exp gain is so cranked up that it's unnecessary and outside, the reward for clearing a floor set is percentage scaled to your current level.

Materia can be extracted from gear with 100% spiritbond. To gain the skill you need to talk to the Goblin (Mutamix? Or something like that) in Central Thanalan, will be a blue quest icon on the map. It's worth doing as soon as you can as even if you don't meld the materia to your gear, it's a half decent source of income on the MB.

the basic premise is that you go through PoTD ten floors at a time. Assuming you start from scratch, you start at level 1 and level up by killing enemies as you go through the floors. Every 10 floors, there's a boss. Every floor except boss floors have chests with stuff in them and hidden traps on the floor. Most of the time, chests will contain items called pomanders which can be used for various effects

Does high (140+) Frames per Second really do anything for this game? I'm not sure on how FPS is affected or effects really old games like this. And tbh my system can only sometimes push that much fps (my monitor is 144hz) and will constantly go between 110-143fps in unpopulated areas.
But tbh it's annoying esp if I notice it (despite having Gsync on

So I am thinking of cutting the FPS to 72 using the ingame feature so it stays a stable FPS constantly (outside populated cities). And or maxing out settings to make it looks nicer.

For some reason when it comes to dropping frames it gives me headaches. I stopped playing Skyrim cuz it kept going from 56-60 (back before I had this monitor) from getting a headache playing.

i stopped playing after doing 5.3 just long enough to finish shadowlands MSQ. i have returned and have a couple of questions. #1 my chocobo saddlebags are full of 50/60/70 poetic augmention materials (e.g., illuminati darkest gobcoat). are these useless now? is there any way to trade them in for poetics? #2 does the extra trust character you get after completing the shadowlands story stay at 80, or do they get knocked down to 71 at some point?

I'm not exactly sure how materia works. If I'm a BLM with all 520 cryptlurker's gear or 530 augmented cryptlurker's gear, how many of each materia do i put in the 24 slots? I've read to prioritize crit > dh > det and sometimes ss, but not sure what that means. 8 of each? 10 crit 8 DH 6 det? something else?

Garlean mobs 2 or 3 rank can be tackled pretty easily by a healer, don't even need aetherweaver (but it does help) - these have a chance of dropping clusters

blm gets more value out of spell speed to reduce gcd to make the rotation more comfy. that said meld prioritisation really just means take equipment and cap out crit (as first stat example) and if you can't do that then add direct hit and if you can't add that then spell speed, etc until everything is melded to your preference

so you know that lost actions come from lost fragments, right? these can all be purchased from the marketboard or obtained by buying fragments with clusters, and I think they do drop from FATEs

The meld window will show you the item stats at the bottom. If it says something like 212/212 crit, then you can't add anymore. And you'll get a message in red (iirc) to warn you if you try to add more.

as an example i have crit capped out first in the 2 guaranteed slots so I added direct. since I can't add another crit (in crafted gear) I overmelded with direct, then a crit 7 which maxes it out.
if just doing tome gear all you have to do is not cap out any of the stats (if you can meld but get less than the full value will get a message with the stat value hilighted in red)

you can self meld by leveling a crafter to an appropriate level. in the example meld pic would need goldsmith at lv70 a lv 80 crafting job. otherwise it's using a melding npc (can't overmeld) or requesting a meld from a player

might be taking about door boss health percentages (top and bottom). prisoner groups are usually by party to a called direction and lyon group is mostly determined when they get there (before boss pull)

restoration is functionally complete in there wont be any additions to the firmament. you can still turn in collectables for xp/kupo scratch off tickets
