That's why you have flying in the ARR zones. Cortheas is Heavensward, and you need to collect the aether currents there to be able to fly. Every Expansion zone has their own set of currents.

Choco feed can be grown in flowerpots iirc, so even trial players can grow their own. The seeds don't cost a lot if you're into hunts or blue mage.
Also, prepare for some trial and error. I tried to dye mine soot black, got nophica green, nophica green again, some shade of blue, ceruleum blue, then I gave up and decided that ceruleum blue looks cute.
