Well ya obviously I wasn’t counting 1.0 in that lol
but when will they adjust/fix daily roulette for msq quest...
2.0 is a lot of busywork but that's because you're a nobody

ARR sets up a lot of important details
without it, the rest of the expansions aren't as good imo
2.x was better as it sets up a lot of future stuff
the more i play, the more i appreciate all the arr set up stuff fwiw
imo for me its ARR > Shadowbringer > Heavensward > Stormblood
ARR literally sets up everything that happens in the expansions
Lots of stuff are still referred to even in current expac
ARR had to cover everything 1.0 covered as well that wasn't made moot by the Calamity
and if youre confused by the story its because a lot of the npcs talk about the calamity from 1.0
but the 1.0 story isnt important
I’m only level 28 and a little over leveled rn and in a real reborn I’m really enjoying it but definitely can be slow at times
How do you put materia on your gear?
!faq meld
With materia melders
Thanks
!faq melding
How do I unlock melding?
Complete Forging the Spirit (materia extract/npc melding) and Waking the Spirit (player melding) in Central Thanalan.
How can I get my gear melded?
To meld visible Materia slots a NPC melder in any major city will do (marked with a Blue Materia icon on the map). To overmeld gear you'll need to request another player to meld your gear or to do it yourself.
Why can't I meld this Materia to my stuff?
Every Tier of Materia has a minimum item level requirement that gear must meet to allow melding of that Tier. Tier 6 Materia requires an item level of 290 while Tiers 7 and 8 require an item level of 420.
Why is my meld giving +0 stats?
Every item has a maximum amount of stats that can be given through melding and the natural stats found on the gear. This can be seen at the bottom of the Materia Melding menu, as seen in the picture below.
The secondary stat with a higher number is already at the cap and cannot be further melded.
there we go
Is materia really only useful for endgame?
Any recommendations on a Crystal server for a newbie? Or is Crystal just bad in general? lol
!faq worldpick
You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences.
The majority of content is cross-world, with the exception of Free Companies, Linkshells, and restrictions when visiting other worlds.
If you don't mind where you play, choose a world that is Preferred or New for character creation bonuses. Check world status by using !status <world name> or via the Lodestone. For information about the status types, use !faq worldtype.
Notable worlds:
- Balmung & Mateus (Role-playing)
- Tonberry & Kujata (Large amount of Oceanic players)
- Moogle (Large amount of French players)
- Shiva (Large amount of German players)
Jeez this is a weird choice. Picking whatever sounds cool then.
someone can explain that please i don't understand
You can bulk buy time
you pay for that many days upfront and the price next to it is how much each month would be
for 40$ you can get 1 year of sub ?
No.
so
You can only have 180 days at a time
12 months with the 6month sub choice would be about $156
i dont understand xD
You can’t buy tons of time at once as a giant stockpile
you can buy subscription time either directly off the site, or via time cards
ahhh yes yes i understand
180 days comes out to being roughly the same as entry
ultimately though, unless you're going to be playing for most of those days its not worth it
should just do entry

So how many people do you need to keep a FC house? do they need to be active/subscribed?
Once the house is bought you can have any number of FC members
so long as atleast one free company member enters the house, it will reset auto demolish
wdym by last one
max characters?
What's the demolish timer?
45 days
Ah
Vpns actually work in this game?
The last column shows the number of total characters you can have on that one account.
Yes
I noticed on YouTube videos of people playing dragoon they have this sort of “dragoon bar” I’m now a level 37 but have yet to see that. Is that something that comes at max level?
Thank you
what's the best way to farm revelations?
Basically doing content with a level 80 will earn you revelation
daily roulette gives so little though, 15-50, where each gear piece cost 400-800
Thats a bonus
Ontop of what the dungeon gives
A expert roulette is 90 revelation
When adding what the dungeon itself gives
how do i fix this
Plus you can only get 450 revelation a week
can u buy back scaeban accessories???
calamity?
no
Poetics
rhalgrs reach
where?

bruh
i accidently discarded my fking healing accessories
it doesnt let u open another one
just discard them all and open it
Check belts as well
you sure you dont have some equipped
what is this?
Going around and killing A/s rank hunts
yea
i dont have any healing ones equiped accessory wise
i think its glitched l0l
No belts?
do /isearch scaevan
quick troubleshooting
is it possible to like, be unable to join a data center
my friend's trying to get into Crystal but they can't select it
wym they cant select it
they said they can't select the Crystal Data center
we're trying to get a screenshot rn
is it grayed out or something
is that even possible?
not to my knowledge
were they already connected to crystal?
Do retainers keep their levels as a certain job if you change them to something else and the back again?
what is good to do between dungeon que times?
@rough fossil no
Oh man. So I’m never going to have a gatherer retainer then
Is Rival Wings PVP?
Yes
Idk if a dumb question or not but is it good to do every quest or you just follow the main story quests?
Main scenario and blue quests should be done
As blue quests unlock SOMETHING
Yellow quests are ignorable if you want
When is Samurai unlocked?
Side quests don't reward enough exp to warrant doing for the purpose of leveling
!faq sbjobs
Stormblood Expansion Jobs: Red Mage (Caster DPS) and Samurai (Melee DPS). These jobs start at level 50 and require ownership of the Stormblood Expansion and a disciple of war or magic job at level 50.
Job Unlock Locations:
Red Mage - Distraught Lass at Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (14,12), quest name is "Taking the Red".
Samurai - Ul'dahn Citizen at Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (9,9), quest name is "The Way of the Samurai".
Lv50 and owning stormblood
Oh alrighty thanks guys.
If the side quest gave an item you can track it that way
Does anyone know about the idle emote with hands on the hip and look around?
the guard emote from bozja
oh ty
guys does it matter what i Join here ?
No
oh i did flame officer because my fav pokemon are 🔥 lol
You can change later
how did this happen
you joined one in the story?
how long is tank queue normally supposed to be?
Depends on what you're doing
just dungeons and roulettes
Shouldn't be terribly long, then
ah, so not healer insta queue
Depends on prime time
healer also depends
what do you get from dungeons at max level
gear and tomes
Part of it also depends on what jobs got released
Tomes
same things as all the other dungeons
95% of my healer queues are instant unless they're end game dungeons
so the gear u get from level 80 dungeons is it a step up from MSQ then u go get gear in raids?
Like tanks took a noticeable hit in queue times when gunbreaker got added
rip healer queue when sage gets released
you can get gear from dungeons or buy it or buy tome gear or get gear from raids
though i still don't think we'll be hit too hard because most people don't like playing healers
As tanks, yes
I was a DRK
Timers for tanks shorten drastically as you get closer to 80 because lots of people doing GNB as babby's first tonk end up dropping it
Sephirot extreme?
you can get gear from dungeons or buy it or buy tome gear or get gear from raids
ok so theres multiple ways to get end game gear also u can buy gear? what gear is the best is raid gear>>tome gear>dungeon gear at 80?
If so then you likely need to be Paladin or Warrior
Paladin is your safest bet
ah
bis is a mix of augmented tome gear and savage gear
Doable on WAR, too
I was watching a video regarding how a specific user uses their mouse and their hotkeys.
In said video, it showed that he had Modifier+Key [Alt+R] set to a single mouse side button.
Isn't that against Terms of Service?
His mechanics necessitate an immunity that doesn’t kill you solo-wise
you can buy gear on the mb
Seph has the hardest mechanics solo
Can’t say I’ve heard of people getting banned for something like that
I know using ones that do multiple actions in an order can be sketchy
I was always under the impression that if you used a single key for multiple inputs, it broke ToS.
Technically Alt + R would be that, no?
being able to "hit 1 button" on my mouse, where another would need to hit both.
Even if it was, which I can't imagine it is, they would have no way of checking it
depends what you use it for
It was a lot of Modifer+key, assigned to their hotbar, and mouse.
And then they'd use the buttons on their mouse to use said skill.
They're still pushing one button to use one skill. it's fine
Kind of a related question: is using mouse/keyboard macros (like Logitech, Razer Synapse, etc) to spam oGCD skills (for example, an oGCD skill binded on Numpad 1) or even GCD skills against ToS ?
How do I redeem the poetics?
you need to turn the book into khloe
So it's more of 1 button = 1 skill/action
not 1 button = 1 key press?
So as long as 1 key press doesn't trigger 2 skills?
Pretty much, yeah
The game shouldn't be able to handle 2 skills being used at the same time
As long as one key doesn’t do multiple actions it’s fine
gotcha.
Guess I'll be redoing some of my mouse buttons then. Always did num1-9 and then resulted in never using them. lol.
thx for the clarification.
Noted, ty !
wait, if u get raid gear from a raid u can sell it on marketplace?
no
o
Dungeon/raid/trial gear is untradeable 99% of the time
The 1% mostly being some Specific ARR leveling dungeon gear

you can buy crafted i510 gear
Closest class to a necromancer?
a healer
are there any spells i dont need here since i am a warrior now can i remove some maurader skills?
Can someone explain to me whenever my friend tries to sign in on the website it says he cant sign in because he's a free trial user
o
Warrior is basically just marauder continued
stun is kind of niche but i would still keep it
I’d definitely put the stun on a less valuable keybind
The lodestone? Free Trial users can’t log into it
!faq freetrial
Last bulletin point in the limitations
where do you get more thavnarian scalepowder?
Are aspected helios’ shield and heal potencies when combined equal to a helios?

there's a small circle on the top right, so yes
wow this game makes u walk quite a bit far lol
Advance your MSQ and get mounts asap. Really helps a lot
Ahm I sat on my keyboard and don’t know what I hit but now I’m walking really slowly with my weapon drawn. Any ideas?
/ toggles walk/run
yes
Sorry what? What do I do to fix it?
all of it
Sweet, cheers
trials raids alliance raids have 1st time bonus
@rough fossil press / on numpad
if you rebinded it, look at the keybindings for the Toggle Run/Walk function
Aha! Thanks!
and put it on a key
Don’t think I’ve ever walked anywhere before lol
it has some limited uses, some monsters use sound detection and walking lets you avoid aggroing them
that's basically only relevant in Eureka and potd/hoh(especially soloing high floors)
Ah I see
Where on the Mogstation do I go to get a third retainer?
account services > additional paid options
Any I allowed to recuit for my FC here? If so where?
Thank you
what raid utility does SMN have?
addle for mitigation, phoenix has a tiny heal, and devotion for offensive buff
they also have a battle raise
anything in my inventory that u guys would throw out? i dont want it to get full and i dont know whats garbage lol
and technically a heal spell but it's bad
The faded music rolls, the monster materials, the potions that don’t give hp or mp
Thanks
Lyna the dancer trust is only available in the 71 MSQ dungeon?
Yep
is there another one-time trust like that in ShB?
this is from The Epic of Alexander Ultimate right?
Yep
Is there way to end a timed duty early without abandoning it? "Kill as many enemies as possible in 5 minutes." I've already killed enough for success and have another 3 minutes to go. Do I just wait it out?

AFAIK, yes, if you don’t count the exarch
Just have to wait those out
thanks

you can check https://saltedxiv.com/sam for the detailed guides and what skill speed tiers you want
if im wearing excharic gear and buying cryptlurker, is chest piece the best 1st piece cuz 530 chest only drops from e12s? (i have yet to start savage)
Sounds good thx
buy whatever your bis is
ic! ty :)
What’s bis stands for ?
best in slot
yea probably focus on buying BiS slots first, although chest isn't a bad idea
Okey gotcha
chest might end up being a waste if its not the bis
depends on how fast you progress, especially with 5.5 looming
although could be chest or legs, same stats
but your first weekly upgrade token from 5.5 could make that slot 530, which is a fair bit of stats, and you're unlikely to get your full BiS that quickly anyway so you'll have time to get other pieces as you grind savage
Returning to FFXIV after finishing stormblood story 3 years ago, any tips or things i should know who have massively changed since then ?
Hi, what does "Idle Animation Delay" do exactly?
the rate at which the randomized idle animation changes?
the rate at which you enter idle animation after an action
oh okay, is the randomized pose change considered an action ?
no
ooh okay thanks for clearing that up
guess my char will be unsure of how to pose every so often 😄
Off the top of my head
When you use Poetic to buy gears, you will get augmented version directly

On the story end, the Crystal Tower alliance raid is now mandatory as it connects to Shadowbringers
MP is now standardized to 10k, spells were using percentage of your full MP anyway. TP is gone.
journal > completed quests > chronicles of a new era tab > crystal tower from the drop down
Just finished collecting my black mage clothes. It came with this as well - is this just a second set I should bank in case I lose them?
I havent bought Shadowbringers already, i download the game yesterday and got the 4 days free
On the combat end, aside from the usual stuffs getting changed, tanks get a more fundamental change:
- tank stance no longer reduce your damage output. And there is not more tank stance vs Dps stance. Tank stance nows improve your aggro
- natural damage mitigation from tank stance is moved to a trait
Thanks! Comes in purple too I see 🙂
Thats alot of new stuff already
Machinist, Ninja, and Monk get a pretty big rework too
I was a War main, never really tested this 3 classes
Machinist is a fully redo, it no longer do ammo reload and play with RNG
Hello hello, so regarding the ffxiv art contest, does anyone know where/how to check if your submission went through?
Ninja rework is simpler, they just make all your Ninjutsu GCD and worthwhile to use
it should have said so on the page iirc
it does not :o it just says to "log back in"
but it's like-
where-
I see. Well, I hope you enjoy how tanks work now
to lodestone?
aye, I'm in lodestone atm but where do I exactly find the information that I indeed submitted?
I heard that alot of the fight changed with Shadowbringers from a old friend, i'm mean it cant be worse than fighting T4 bahamut on a ps3 with the bugged hitbox from the dragon when FFXIV was fresh out
yes! it did when I submitted but I want to make 100% sure it went through because anxiety 101
log back in to the submission form?
aye I did that :o but it seems like it just leads me to the normal, blank submission form.
no idea then
if you already submitted then theres no point
sdjfdsf am just worried it didn't get through, cause something similar happened to a purchase from squeenix before
So like, whatever happened with A4S? I heard it was so hard it nearly killed the game or something
is it possible to get grade 2 & 3 skybuilder's artisanal items anywhere since the unspoiled versions are still obtainable?
Market board most likely
Unless you mean the non approved stuff
If you mean not approved, then I don't think you can get anything grade 2, maybe a few grade 3 items.
you can still get the grade 2 and 3 unspoiled items for some reason
i wasn't sure if that meant you could get the other ones to make the recipes then since it kinda rendered the resources moot otherwise
got some grade 2 umbral galewood on accident while trying my first unspoiled diadem node but if the other parts of the recipes are unobtainable them i'm list as to why you can still get them
So my friend is trying to login into the free trial but its not allowing him it keeps saying his password is wrong but its not on the ps4
why cant i dye the lvl 80 weathered gear?
This channel is for new or returning players to ask questions and discuss Final Fantasy XIV. As a reminder this channel is a troll free and an off-topic free zone. For general discussion please use #general-discussion. <@&473626701947994134> are available to help in this channel. Thank-You, Kupo!
All the grade 2/3 artisanal stuff is still obtainable in the diadem due to the old expert recipes having achievements tied to them
you mean the unspoiled stuff only is or the other stuff around it is too?
So i took up a hand class( wvr) to see what its like and I having a hard time doing the lv 30 job quest without running out of cp or durabilty. Its not just the job item even low level materials i cannot make a hq version of it. The highest i got is 14%. Is there a guide somewhere?
you could try plugging your values into something like this
https://ffxiv-beta.lokyst.net/#/crafter-attributes
see if it can generate something for you
get better gear
otherwise you might need to try levelling a bit higher and/or getting better gear
if youre leveling crafters you should be leveling them all together
i struggled on the armorer level 30 i think quest
i finally went back to do it at 80 and literally a single use of prepatory touch put it at 100% hq lol
Does better gear increase durabilty and cp?
it can increase cp for sure
not durability
durability no
it can increase the amount you generate for HQ and for crafting it though
durability is item specific
yeah
though
there's skills to restore durability
master's mend you should already have, but it eats cp up
if you have like 400 - 500 though then you could use it several times over
what are your craftsmanship, control, and cp?
What's the boss that makes you do math?
second ivalice raid
also what item are you crafting
Ivalice raid and a Bozja CE
I didnt think gear would effect the hand classes much so i didnt change from the low lvl ones. Let me update and i let u know how it works out.
gear is even more important for doh/dol classes than combat
yeah
you cant make the good lvl 80 stuff without like fully overmelded bis gear along with syrup and food
basically, craftsmanship affects how strong synthesis actions are (completion of crafting item)
control affects the strength of touch actions (quality increase actions)
even without more cp, just improving stuff like control would be a massive help
tbh crafting macros saved my ass late-game too though
Ohh i see. Improving control is tied to gear too, or is it mostly inner quiet?
control and craftsmanship are from gear/food/syrup
inner quiet is very good but improving the skill itself is tied to gear
they are character stats
though yeah there are temporary food buffs and such too
even attaching materia can help
if you give me your 3 stats and an item name at some point i can explore some sequences but i'd still recommend just levelling it a bit and coming back
where you are now it's just that much harder and more expensive to try and possibly fail than to come back and do it with ease
and level all crafters together
you can level them passively with daily provisions or pretty much power level them in the firmament when you unlock that
it honestly only took me a couple days to max armorer (granted it was like 60 something when i started the final stretch) and maxing the rest is now also really fast
the firmament gives ridiculous xp
Craft is 99 control is 57 and the item is a hq velveteen gaiters.
what about cp?
180 like i said i using very low lvl gear.
eek, yeah, get an upgrade to gear for sure
You should be able to get a set of accessories from levels 15-20
That’ll boost CP
so I'm at the part in ARR where ||everyone in the Waking Sands dies||. Are the quests going to get any better any time soon? I've been just switching zones to talk to one person and going back for the past 30 minutes
i'm really only able to get about 7 - 8% hq
Accidently sold em; getting more now
also moondra, it's kinda subjective
i'll just say that people liked ShB the most and HW the second most (usually)
ARR is a bit of a mess
thats what quests are
yeah lol
either talk to person, gather/kill thing, or do duty
It's just like, it's been a while since I've even fought a mob lmao
ARR's post-game content was some of the most lax in the game
I just finish SHB last night. One of the most hypest thing i experence. Its worth it
Yup
the msq gives you duties like every few levels
Yeah where is that?
you could spend like an hour in there and get your crafting levelled
it's in foundation
I don't think I have any
left besides additional jobs
look for Recruitment Notice as 9.7, 11.5 in Foundation
should have Towards the Firmament
I'm mostly just trying to power through the story for now so I can get caught up with friends since it's locked behind that. It's not that bad, but it does feel a bit like a chore right now and I wasn't sure if ARR gets better of it's just like this for most of the expansion
is there a macro my gf can make that will let her jump on my whale mount?
Thanks i check it out. The good thing with endwalker being about a year away is that i can finally take my time to check out the extra stuff. So i look into the other hand classes too. I want money
shes using a gamepad and it sucks to have to right click my mount everytinme
@frozen crater ARR may feel a bit slow because it has a lot of world building but it sets up literally everything else that happens in the expansions
I see
tbh i'm only seeing other people asking for the inclusion of a macro for that that doesn't otherwise exist
and the ending is really good
I am interested in the story and the atmosphere, it just doesn't feel super engaging currently
i guess a better option would be trying to see if there's a way to pull up ride pavillion on controller but i'm struggling to find that too honestly
she just needs to target you and press whatever the right click equivalent is
its X for me
Oooh, scratch that. I just found ||Cid|| 👀 now I'm engaged
i concur after asking NN
someone said it was square for them
try either of those
Ah, how do i make it so she can macro target me?
there should be a button to cycle targets the same as tag and numpad 0
you can even configure out it works in the menu
you should be in a party so just press up or down on the dpad twice
up/down cycles party members
awesome ty
!faq contentunlock
when can we fly?
!faq flying
'How can I unlock Flying?'
Flying is unlocked through the collecting of a zone's Aether Currents, with every zone having ten 'green' Aether Currents found in the overworld and five 'yellow' Aether Currents obtained through the MSQ and side quests marked with a plus sign. Azys Lla is the only zone to not have any green Aether Currents. You must collect all Aether Currents in a zone to be able to fly.
Flying is unlocked in A Realm Reborn zones simply by completing the level 50 story quest 'The Ultimate Weapon'.
'Where can I find the green Aether Currents?'
Upon obtaining the Black Chocobo mount you are also given an Aether Compass, which is a key item you can use to locate the nearest non-quest Aether Current. This can be set to your Hotbar for ease of use. Alternatively, you can use this website to show the location of all Aether Currents for a zone. http://heavenswhere.com/

Does anyone know which of the tank trusts has the higher dps?
and which healer can do multiple pulls?
should i do the eden stuff after i finish post ShB?
~750?
Do we need to finish all of them?
yes
thats the game
all of a realm reborn and heavensward and stormblood and shadowbringers
i mean.. how far in are you?
hey I just got ffxiv so a newcomer any rookie mistake that i should be on the look out for?
so youre like 10% into the game
LMAO
!faq newplayertips @fervent panther
i wouldnt look those up
alright ty ❤️
there's like 300 quests in the base game story tho
oh wow, just starting? got a LOOONG way bud
I'm fine with it , its my girlfriend i worry about 😦
this is a final fantasy game
wut
story is good
JESUS THANKS @remote lintel this helps alot thanks 🙂
She doesnt seem to like the story much haha
it gets better
ARR sets up literally everything that happens in the expansions
and the ending is really good
shadowbringers > heavensward > arr > stormblood
Does “goring blade” replace “Rage of Halone”? Or should I keep the latter? Level 54 PLD currently
True, but goring blade got a combo potency of 390, while the other got 350. Or is it different at max level?
rage of halone will be replaced by something else soon, spam goring blade combo meanwhile
Royal Authority
Fair enough. Thank you
is there a resistance quesstline?
yes
and that is the ShB relic questline?
yes
and what is this eden questline?
do they have good loot as well?
Does no one even do suzaku
I've queued as dps for 30 minutes
Healer for like over 10 minutes
Is today like a bad day or something
@oblique yew You should be aware the looting works kinda different for raids. You clear the boss and you get tokens which you exchange for the gear pieces
isnt this better than the rng?
for example, you can exchange 4x Armor of Lost Antiquity for a 510 armour piece
I mean, you can pick/choose what you get, but you can only get 1 token per week per raid (for the last section at least)
wtf
it's weekly locked instead of RNG
there's 12 raids, 3 sections of 4
the first 8 aren't weekly capped, but they're lower ilvl
do any of these exchanged gear require more than 4 tokens?
no
the weapon
oh yeah true
requires 7 blades
jesus
and you get 1 per week max
but
helm, boots and gloves require 2, armor and legs require 4,
accessories and belts require 1
So what I did was get 4 accessories the first week
ez ilvl boost
i thought you said 1 token per week
per raid
1 token per fight per week, there are 4 fights
each one of these will give you 1 drop per week, and the last one will give a weapon piece
not much harder than normal mode trials imo
They're not hard, no
hmm. cool
these are just normal raids
it's the savage mode that's much harder
when do you unlock savage mode? after the eden questline?
welp. long way to go
It's a fun quest though
all the fights are nice
and they don't take too long individually
the queue times might be bad for the earlier ones though
does anyone have a link to a working texttools?

I want to try the duty roulette but it says adventure in need healer, do I need to be one to join?
or is that more of a suggestion lol
Just a suggestion, but whatever it says. Healer, tank or dps. If you use that role, you get more items or Gil at the end of the roulette
ok ty
am i crazy or is the first set of quests to level 50 before heavensward or a realm reborn feel kinda slow and arduos
I just finished the ARR quests and just started the 2.1 patch quests, yea it's very slow and tedious 😦
yep, it used to be worse
I keep being told it's the worst one lol
😦
its ok, but its the worst the game has to offer
is it worse than the firs 1-50 quests
2.1-2.3 is a bit of a slog yes
ARR's old during a time where they were remaking the game with a budget along with the entire world building so it's rather slow but everything picks up and gets much better
2.4 onward tho starts picking up, keeper of the lake is the point where things start getting better
than Heavensward... what a great expansion. 9/10 stuff right there
wait so then what are all the quests before level 50
ARR is like first 10 chapters of a great manga. Mainly just world building and character introduction. Then bam, a proper arc that grips your interest.
shit feels a bit longer than 10 chapters
||keeper of the lake is the turning point imo||
well, 10 chapters of Berserk can last 5-10 years XD
also when do high end duties unlock
lv80
and finish ShB
what is the next lv requirement for the one after lv71 dungeon?
73/75/77/79
I need rank 3 to buy vanity stuffs with bi-color gem?
basically, yes
and you need rank 3 in all 3 zones to unlock the special collectibles from the Eulmore and Crystarium vendors
for me it feels like leveling has slowed down significantly at 55 even with the road to 70 buff 😦
are you doing your current level dungeons or spamming leveling roulette
If you’re in the ARR patch story then that’s why
I was doing like 10 levels a day and now I'm lucky to even level 1
As those story quests give very little experience to prevent overleveling
ugh
you're supposed to be 50 until heavensward
HW is meant to start at lvl 50
you can't even use your new job skills as those are behind your job quests anyways
hopefully the patch quests don't take too long
can dancer solo up to PoTD 40 without sustain pot?
I tried the first boss and he hit quite hard even with 99/99 gear
Glad to hear this. Literally just finished keeper of the lake today
I’m still yet to do keeper of the lake without wiping with a team lmao
Hey I’m trying to allocate my weapon and shield for PLD for the law order stuff what stats should I go into most?
what were the four stats again?
i know one of them's tenacity and you can just ignore that one

Max out crit/Det, rest into skill speed if you need it. If not then tenacity
Do riding maps only increase speed on the ground?
yes
good to know, thanks
Just curious, but how did Ninja mudras work before they changed it in 5.1?
They would interrupt gcds earlier if I remember right
'yes' for MSQ, no for bonus trust mode
Did they have charges like they do now?
they gain EXP from complete dungeon runs
you'll have to level most of them from level 71
2-3 runs for a level
How do you get more storage space
my glam problem is getting real now
I dont have enough space for my weapons

Are you putting them in the glamour dresser?
make sacrifices or buy more retainers :V
45mins of pain
We wiped once but overall all 4 of us pretty much knew how to do the mechanics.
I was the WHM, I screwed up and stood in an AOE thinking I can change my heal faster than the AOE and died towards the end of our second round. Thankfully my team still managed to clear.
yeah I"ve done it three times and twice it was the tank not positioning the dragons (and dps being a bit flustered by aoes so healing was troublesome), and the most recent one had me tanking but they couldn't select the shield in time
it's not a big deal but keeper of the lake often has some trial and error
lol
How can we find a user selling stuff on market from their retainer?
you cant really
Bummer.
There is always someone who is always undercutting stuff I put for 1 gill difference.
And I feel the need of slapping them hard in the face and spitting in their mouth.
probably bots
True 😔
How many jobs do you guys actually have time to play?
And keep at least somewhat current
I personally have time to play them all but the time invested on leveling them is alot
But it is pretty convienent having more than one job or type of job to play esp in pf parties
Yeah, I'm trying to level at least one caster and melee as well now and I'm really not sure if I'll end up leveling more than one of each
How often does max iLevel go up?
Level them one at a time
Lv50
Lv60
Lv70
Lv80
But for 70-80 it would be wise to use dunegon gear
I main one for savage raiding (SCH) and DNC and SMN are my backups for extremes if I can't heal for whatever reason. Granted, I level classes super casually, roulettes only
After level 75
I'm doing many jobs at the same time so I can turn in equipment that I don't need when the classes I'm leveling go up at the same time
Yeah, I'll need more space heh
I personally play a bit of everything, I rp so all of my characters are themed and each play maybe 2-3 jobs at max level

Trance lines up with tri disaster at 80, so you end up holding it for 10s or so to maximise your tri disaster uses
Yeah I mean gotta use it for as long as possible but I mean if it's off cd and you've used tri disaster you should use it instantly right for the damage
and then you do ruin, tri disaster again and then spam ruin until you can ahk morn at th every end
I'm just considering giving a sound effect so I can use it without tunnel visioning
After 70 you won't be using trance for its full duration
really?? that seems like less damage
Since you want to burn it ASAP to get bahamut up
but it makes cast times so short
couldn't you keep it up as long as possible before pulling bahamut?
No since that'll mess up your rotation
Is that worth the longer wait for phoenix trance?
This ^
I mean I'm lvl 60 rn so I don't need to worry about it till later but it's nice to preprepare
so I guess I'll remember that
I'm arguing the opposite since phoenix and dreadwyrm share a cool down timer
Or moreso that's why I'm asking
Every time you use trances full duration you're essentially delaying your entire rotation by 15s
And yes since you end up holding phoenix anyways to use tri before resetting it when you hit trance
Ah, I see
use trance until you've used all your offglobals
you'll likely have enkindle, energy drain, maybe a couple of aetherflow stacks to use up
Yeah that articulates what I was saying a little better
so stuff all those into trance
generally you want 4 gcds max, in my experience
and then bahamut
those will naturally align with trance
Only use it for as long as you need to
I see
I use DWT for maybe 2 gcds max
because smn doesn't clip its own gcd like blm does, instant casting ruin 3 isn't really a dps gain on paper
so utilise it to weave, and then end it as soon as you have
so just use ogcds and then go right into bahamut
mhm.
nice
so... is dreadwyrm trance use on CD? would it line up with the rotation and all?
yes
gievn from what i can tell it also unlocks your route to bahamut/phoenix
If you do your rotation right, yes
SMN has the longest rotation of all jobs but it all fits together so it seems more daunting than it actually is
it depends on if you do your opener right, right? and keep circulating ogcds
Yeah if you mess up at any point you might have to introduce fillers
oh what?
Well yeah it's trance -> actual Bahamut -> Phoenix
But after you summon and expend bahamut DWT turns into phoenix trance
Or 2x trance until you get the passive to get 2 stacks for one trance
so wait is bahamut just a straight up separate skill
The actual summon is, yeah
wild
You'll get it later
You get dreadwyrm aether from dreadwyrm trance
and only unlocks after you've done trance ic
And when you get 2 (1 later on) you can summon bahamut
Yeah, completing the trance gives you a stack of dreadwyrm aether like Dioch says
I see
Right now you are in that awkward spot where you only got access to 1 of 4 phases of SMN
yeah haha
sorry, 2
Way more, yeah, SMN kinda sucks before that point
And believe you me, it's super fun at 80
I'm already having some fun at 60 lol
One of those jobs where leveling just kinda sucks
Smn kinda clicks at around 72
I just don't play dps much because of wait queues
Once you unlock the actual Bahamut summon you don't want to leave for a while 😄
I'm a dumbass so I'm bad at explaining smn
Since its kinda just muscle memory for me at this point
hey at least it means you're qualified
Doubtful dgjdhjf
Well there is this little helpful picture here but that's for the whole rotation at lvl 80
It has the most dmg of all the ranged dps
But no party utility on the offside
I'm sure it's not too bad, probably isn't that hard to memorise when you actually get it
Nostalgia factor probably
No it's not, it looks daunting without having done it but it all fits together very well. SMN is probably the best thought out job in the game (imho)
Well MCH does not deal as much dmg as BLM for one
And it is kind of harder to play? Though that is subjective ofc
The only issue I hear a lot about is dying in your rotation and suffering a lot damagewise for it
Yeah that is the big downside of SMN. You have a very long rotation where every part relies on the part that comes before. So breaking it off at any point hurts because getting back into it takes time
Ah yea, sorry for that
There's lots of other things to take into account, such as aesthetics - a lot of people, me included just find MCH kinda clunky and unfocused
Ranged dps and caster dps are two separate roles
I can see myself leaning more to other roles just because of that, but if I know the fight that would definitely be fun
Plus if you have high ping (also me) it's the only class that's almost inpossible to play
The big thing ranged dps have going for them is lots of party utility. Both BRD and DNC are pretty much supporters. MCH on the other hand just makes stuff go boom
MCH does the most damage out of ranged DPS.. which is currently the lowest DPs role
Bard is viable but is currently lowest damage, all classes are viable in all content it's purely preference
Yeah do bear in mind that this whole discussion is pretty hypothetical
Yes, ranged dps have the lowest dmg of all dps roles
But they can still clear all content no problem
There are classes that are "worse" than others but all classes are 100% viable
You won't be locked out of content for playing a specific job unless that party is full of shitters
Raiding isn't nearly as big as in wow
On the contrary, it's very much alive
At the end of the day it's just not focused on by the dev team compared to wow
Depends on the data center, to a degree
But if you want to get into super serious raiding you will have no problem finding people to do it with is my point
The safe main is the one you want to play. Honestly.
If the past tells us anything then that all jobs are safe
Balance has never been bad as far as I can remember
Wow and FFXIV raid design is actually considerably different, FWIW.
All jobs are safe, but some jobs can feel a little unfun to play
Speaking of which, I only have smn as a dps and I've tried mch but pretty sure my ping is too shitty, any classes that aren't as punishable as smn if you die but are still fun (for you)?
What role do you want to get into? DPS I assume?
Looking at you SB Astro and MCH
SB astro was messy lmao
So are you partial to playing a ranged dps here?
I'd recommend SAM. It's not that hard and pretty forgiving all around but still deals tons of dmg
How about casters?
oh woah, I've never tried melee and it's a pretty selfish dps apparently, fun though then?
Casters are super intuitive and satisfying once you get that shit down
And for ranged dps I would recommend DNC because it's easy and very fun to play. Also everyone loves to have a DNC around because of the dmg buffs
DNC is my go to class when I wanna chill
Selfish in the sense that the party utility to bring is your own big dmg, yeah. 😄 But very fun indeed
Since you can literally auto pilot their rotation
I'll try it then, I was also considering rdm and dnc
nothing stopping me from trying all three
RDM is the easiest caster job so do try it out to get a feel
Also very fun, my favourite caster actually
RDM is a simple rotation but has a melee and ranged phase
the closest I've ever got to playing melee is playing drk so I've never considered samurai though, so that'll be cool too
SAM only has 2 positionals so it's easing you in pretty well
Hey does the armory bonus only build for classes you gave access to? Basically I want to know if I should go unlock all classes I can so they can all get that bonus. I'm level 38 on archer and saw something about this when I went to try another class.
Rdm is simple to play but incredibly desirable for group content and aesthetically pleasing
Still kinda wish we got tank samurai
I'm guessing samurai just means: don't go to the frnt of the boss
BUT! SAM is sneaky about handing out those positionals. A passive at levle 52 (I believe) is just adding them to two skills you had from the beginning
But the game doesn't tell you 😄
The armory bonus doesn't "build", you just get a passive Exp bonus on classes below the level of the highest
In general you will stand behind the boss the whole time and just move to the flank for that one positional that requires it
can NG+ limit what you'll get in roulettes?
Ok, so no need to run to unlock all the other classes? They'll all get some sort of boost when I try them.
SAM’s postionals are pretty easy to get around, its not the end of the world if you miss them
^ that too
that sounds neat, I'm sure I can find out more when I try it
Exactly
SAM positionals only mean you get some more kenki to spend
which doesn't fuck with your rotation too hard if you miss them
I think you might be conflating rest exp, which is character based rather than class based
Positionals has been pretty intuitive so far. I'm on the free trial and only played through PLD WHM and NIN. You just got to map your skills to the corresponding hot bars and build a muscle memory.
But Sams kenki directly translates to damage
Ok thanks. I was gonna be a bit disappointed if I gave up plenty of experience I could've built all this time. Just didn't want to confuse myself more with 12classes to worry about when I started.
Since its used almost exclusively on damage skils
To be fair, only NIN has positionals out of those jobs 😄 But yeah, they do seem more daunting than they actually are.
One thing I learnt from others, while its important to hit your positionals, its really not the end of the world if you miss them
thinking about it samurai is probably a good idea seeing as I don't have to worry about the party at all and it's just myself, unlike.. drk and astro and it doesn't seem bad if you die either, unlike smn
@glossy flare you're right! But when I got to it it was really easy to adjust for me. I believe I could transition to a monk easily and not have any issues remembering
Only MNK really care about positional a lot
Well MNK is just cranking positionals up to 11. In fact it's pretty annoying for me personally but that's of course subjective
I remember when I started playing I thought paladin had positionals
Like... positionals are almost their main job mechanic
Even then, they get a second true north to compensate
True, that helps
Pre 5.4 earth's fury was so OP
The thing that bothers me about positionals in this game is they're so.. barely signposted.
literally 30s of ignoring positionals
wait hold on if you're melee dps you're probably using or are able to LB quite a bit right
The game is pretty bad at teaching new players about them, yeah
Most of the time the melee dps will LB, yea
Every enemy has a massive circle around them that shows you where their flank and rear are
every mob has indicators in the targetting circle
Hopefully at some point this game actually teaches it’s players
woah.. I've never LB3ed since tank/healer main normally lol
I mean, I know about them. I just forget which one is which because the classes I've played they're just the ends of two nearly identical comboes.
Well tanks/healers do LB in harder content. Either because tank LB is required or the healer LB might save the day
yeah
But yeah, way rarer
but if boss is like, last few percent, melee wkll probably lb?
PUG savage is like healer LB every other pull
That is the usual norm
It would be helpful if the hotbar icon actually signposted the positional, for example. Or the ability name.
nice
Where something like "backstab" is pretty simple.
I still don't get why the games tutorial with hall of the Novice is STILL optional
It's not for completely new accounts iirc
How would they name that with MNK then? "Backpunch"?
Gotta do it before you can do the first dungeon in the story
Mapping positionals to certain buttons helps a lot. Im playing on the ps4 with a controller so I have specific buttons to activate rear/flank
You don't need to, you talk to the npc and then you can go straight to sastasha without doing the tutorial
Ah well nvm then, I agree with your point 😄
I mean, I'm not the creative guy here, but even simply putting an arrow of some sort on the ability button would help when learning.
how do i unlock the savage modes of the first 4 eden trials?
I guess my point is they're not really intuitive.
I think the game is just bad at teaching people positionals even exist. If that would be handled better then there wouldn't be so many people struggling with the concept I think.
How is that any more descriptive than the tooltip very clearly showing you if it's rear or flank
Complete all of them on normal which then unlocks a new blue quest that gives you the savage versions
Once you've done the normal quests there will be a
all of the first 4 right? and not the whole eden questline?
The tooltip isn't easy to review in combat.
Bruh
As a beginner, my take is we should always know our abilities first 🤣
we should... always read. our skills..
It would probably help if the positional was at least highlighted in the tool tip
I mean i still have trouble remembering potencies and when to use single target vs AOE, but I know what my skills do
The tool tip tells you. Increased potency from flank or rear
I don't get how you make it more clear than that
Yes but that is exactly my point. The game never tells you that positionals exist and the ability tooltip is verging on cryptic when it comes to explaining the concept of a positional.
For example: How is a new player supposed to know where the flank of a given enemy starts and ends? I know there are indicators but the game never explains them to you.
Yes, I read my skills. But it's not difficult to confuse shit like Wheeling thrust and Fang and claw when they're almost the exact same ability except attached to the other combo
There are
You just really got to in build it into your muscle memory
Im not sure how easy that is using mouse keyboard but its pretty intuitive on the controller
And when I was learning drg it was a constant "uhh, was this the flank or rear one? I don't remember"
I've never heard anyone struggle with DRG positional before
Because in terms of actual gameplay the abilities feel incredibly similar
Wild
Imagine thinking that positionals are well sign posted
I mean I gotta say, I have the same struggle with DRG. 😄 Not with any other melee dps but DRG positionals are kinda fucking with my brain. May just be me tho
Wild indeed
Idk, I never guessed reading tooltips was this hard 🙃
Despite that, I must agree that the game doesn't explicitly tell you where are the positionals exactly. But its pretty common sense yea. An enemy only has '4 sides'
Wheeling thrust and Fang and claw have literally a single word difference lol
as long as it's not an orb lol and even then the bottom indicator should be a bit easier to tell which side is which
I wonder why anyone would confuse the two
Yes but where does the back stop and the flank start? Or where does the flank stop and the front start?
Again, each enemy does have indicators but they are never explained to you. And just assuming something is easy to grasp will result in 20% of people not grasping it (conservative guess)
Which is just... eh... I don't want to call it bad design. It's fine, but it could be handled better.
Just make Hall of the Novice mandatory and include a positional explanation, I think we can all agree with that
What's the total GP on a full landsaint set?
The fact that this image needs to exist is exactly my point. If the game would show you, then someone else wouldn't have had to make that image 😉
I'm not saying it's hard to grasp once someone points you to it but it is easy to miss
Even without the circle its just basic angles
Well yea it is
360 degrees, so the rear positional is 90 degrees
Then the flanks are 90 degrees to the left/right of that
But the game never tells you it is basic angles. How are you supposed to know?
Idk, I assumed it was common sense...
It is for the majority of people
But you're not creating tutorials for the majority of people
My point is: Even if it is easy to get the amount of questions surrounding the topic shows that not everyone does in fact just get it. So adding some tutorial element wouldn't hurt anyone in any way and everyone just wins. 🙂
What determines how much exp a Retainer gets after a field expedition? I'm level 38 on archer. I sent one as a thurmatuge and learned that they won't level past the level of your job class level. In my case level 1 at the time. I went to level 5 so there will be some growth but I'll keep grinding if I can expect them to hit level 10 or something when they return.
For quick ventures it’s somewhat based on the item they get back
Otherwise it’s exactly the amount of experience as shown
p sure it's just level if it's a normal venture, the xp is always shown
and based on the item they bring back if it's a quick venture
Oh didn't even realize they had an exp amount when I sent them.
if you're levelling up a retainer it's best to send them out on ventures to gather specific items.
This was my first time using retainers.
quick ventures are only good when you've maxed them out
It has been changed, it depends entirely on the retainer's level. In my experience it's about 1/4 of a level.
Maybe I'm mistaken. I sent them out on the longer quest. Which one is that?
The 18 hour one?
it kinda is if you're away for a looong while
Fair. The 18 hour one can give upwards of 4-5 levels at low levels
So the shorter ones are better?
yep
Damn ok. Guess it wouldn't have matter too much since I wasn't gonna be able to do much.
I'll definitely send them out on shorter ones next time.

Is the only way to damage with conjurer in early levels by using the stone spell? Or is there a way to use a weak melee?
you have melee autoattacks, but because you're a caster it's really really weak
